Wellbeing

It has been an amazing year in wellbeing.
Our school has a holistic approach to wellbeing. Students thrive in environments where they receive support in lots of different aspects of their lives. Research has shown us that students learn better when they are cared for physically, socially and emotionally.
In Term 1 we saw a huge number of care tickets starting to fill the box. The wellbeing team decided that we should reward all students for their hard work with extra whole school rewards. Once the care ticket box was half full, students were allowed to have an out of uniform day. When they filled the box, students enjoyed a crazy hair day!
In term 2, we were fortunate to be included in the Foodbank program. Which means our school can access fresh fruit for students to snack on during the day and this will continue in 2025.
In term 3 and 4 we were very lucky to have therapy dogs from Canine Comprehension at our school on a weekly basis.
In Term 3, the Preps and Grade Ones received oral hygiene packs from Colgate to encourage them to take care of their teeth.
In Term 4 we also had the team from Project Rockit present to the Grade 5 and 6s about how to be safe when interacting with other people online.
Therapy Dogs
We kicked off Term 3 with Mini and Victor, who always brought a smile to our faces (we promise Victor did lots more than just sleep). Students learnt about different types of friendship and the importance of being patient with others.
We also met Rufus (standard sized poodle) who was training to be a therapy dog, our students were very helpful in teaching him how to stay still a be patient.
Term 4, we were very lucky to have not one, but two therapy dogs! Lisa brought her two beautiful dogs Billy (black labaradoodle) and Charlie (brown spoodle). We loved teaching Billy and Charlie new tricks and students learnt that persistence and repetition are important when you are faced with something that is challenging.
Our students always showed very respectful behaviour towards the dogs and we received so much positive feedback about our school from Mini and Lisa. By demonstrating all of the CARE values, students helped our visitors to feel welcome at our school. They should be commended for their kindness and patience towards others.
We are very excited to see what wonderful wellbeing programs and staff we can work with in 2025.
Have a safe and restful break.
