News and Notices

From the Tumuaki

Tēnā koutou katoa, Ridgeview whānau,

As we approach the end of what has been an extremely quick, challenging, and exciting term, we are eagerly looking forward to celebrating the successes of our tamariki at our upcoming school Prizegiving.

Our term concludes on Friday, the 13th, at 12 pm, with a traditional clap-out for our Year 6 students as they prepare to transition to intermediates across the shore.

As a small school, we are proud to hear feedback from these intermediates that our students are well-prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.

We wish all our Year 6 students the very best for 2025 and encourage you to share their future achievements with us.

If your child is leaving Ridgeview at the end of the year and would like to donate their uniform for others in need they can wear Mufti on the last day and donate their uniform to the office.

I would like to take this time to thank our very generous supporters who have given donations to make things like camp happen this year. As well as those that have donated to make our fundraisers a success, people who ensure that students who are in need have resources to be successful at school, and all the parents who give their time to make school events possible. It is because of you all that our students at our little school get a big education.

Ngā mihi nui,

Cassey Prentice

It has been great to get the students out in the pool this term. We are very grateful to Derek for keeping the pool chemicals balanced this is a

big job ensuring that it is safe and ready to be used each day.

Due to not having enough qualified pool technicians we aren't able to open the pool through the December for the community but hope to have this open in January for the community to enjoy. Keep an eye for the days and times on the school facebook page.

Fundraising

Raffle - We have a Christmas raffle with lots of great gifts and goodies for Christmas and an amazing voucher donated to us from NumberWorks ' words in Albany to the value of over $700 which will give one child a whole term (11 weeks) of one to one tutoring. Some Ridgeview students already go along to Numberworks and found them to be really helpful in supporting their learning.

Raffle Tickets are $3 each or 2 for $5, pick them up at the office or email the office to arrange purchase. Please also share with family, friends and work colleagues.

We have a second raffle at the office with a range of cool gifts for kids and adults for Christmas. Tickets can be purchased from the office or via email at office@ridgeview.school.nz Drawn at Prizegiving, if winners are not present they will be notified the next day and we ask that you collect by Friday 13th December.

After School Care 2025

Reminder there is no after school care on Friday the 13th as school closes at 12pm.

Due to a number of reasons we have made the tough decision to  no longer run after school care at Ridgeview in 2025. We will continue to run the before school care program for children that arrive before 8.30am. If you wish for your child to attend before school care please ensure they are pre-enrolled.

Prize Giving 2025

On Wednesday the 11th of December please join for an evening of celebration and entertainment.

We will be starting promptly at 6pm so please arrive in time to find a seat and enjoy the evening. After prizegiving we will have Pizza and Iceblocks for sale and ask families to bring along their picnic blankets to enjoy a picnic celebration with us.

Attendance 2025

The government are changing the rules around attendance and collecting information around attendance daily (which is a change from the currently termly reports). This means that we need parents to contact the school if their child is going to be away and why they are away. If a student is away and we don't receive information in regards to attendance before 12pm on that day they will be recorded as truant. We will share an attendance strategic plan in 2025.

Stranger Warning

A couple of our students were approached at the bus stop by a man offering them a ride home recently. One of our staff members got rid of him and ensured that the students got home safely. This is a timely reminder to talk to all our students about getting home safely and not getting into a car with a stranger. The police were notified of the incident.

Pre-Enrol for 2025

If you have a child that is turning 5 next year please let us know so we can plan classes for 2025!

We now have online enrolments and to help us plan for 2025 if you have a child that you intend on bringing to Ridgeview we ask that you complete a pre-enrolment, this can be found on our website under frequently asked questions or alternative enrol here.   Also if you have changed any of your contact details please update the office.

Wishing you all a happy and safe holiday

The staff of Ridgeview and wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday. We hope to see you all back in the New Year.
