Spotlight on Learning
Stage 1
It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of the year so quickly and Kindergarten is about to move up to Year 1. It has been such a joy to watch them grow and learn this year.
With the holiday season coming fast, KW have written letters to Santa to plead their case for the nice list. Students prepared their letters with help from our Year 6 friends, writing about what present they want, how they have been nice this year, and asking Santa about a fun fact. Our Year 6 buddies have been exemplary role models to Kindergarten this year and it was wonderful to be able to share one last activity together before they leave for high school. Kindergarten are eagerly waiting for Santa’s reply.
KW have been getting into the festive spirit with their artwork this week. We have been filled with the spirit of the holiday season as we create festive artwork to celebrate! Our little artists have been busy using their imaginations to craft beautiful decorations, including sparkly trees, colourful ornaments, and cheerful holiday cards. We can't wait to share our creations with our families and spread the holiday cheer throughout our school community!

Stage 2
As we wrap up an incredible year in Stage 2, we are excited to share some of the remarkable learning experiences that our Year 3 and Year 4 students have engaged in this year. It has been a year filled with exploration, creativity, and growth, and we are proud of all our students’ achievements!
Throughout the year, students have delved into a selection of quality texts that have sparked their imaginations and deepened their understanding of narrative techniques. We explored the adventures of Wandi, journeyed through the enchanting world of Rowan of Rin, enjoyed the clever antics of The Fantastic Mr. Fox, and celebrated the inspiring stories in AFL Legends with Goodsy and Magic. Through these texts, students learned to identify and analyse various techniques that authors use to create engaging stories, enhancing their appreciation of literature.
In addition to their reading adventures, our students have honed their writing skills by crafting persuasive texts. They explored numerous persuasive techniques, learning how to construct compelling arguments and influence their audience. Through brainstorming sessions and peer feedback, students have become more confident in their writing abilities, showcasing their creativity and critical thinking.
Our students have also focused on improving their writing through proof reading and editing. They learned the importance of revising their work to enhance clarity and coherence, which has helped them take pride in presenting polished pieces of writing. This skill will serve them well as they continue to develop their literacy skills in the future.
In Mathematics, we embraced a hands-on approach to learning. Our students participated in engaging maths games that helped solidify their understanding of key concepts such as fractions and place value. Working in small maths groups allowed for collaborative learning, where students could support each other and explore different strategies to solve problems.
We have had a wonderful year of learning in 2024 and look forward to another great year of learning in 2026.

Stage 3
The Year 6 students have been busy getting ready for their exciting transition to high school. They participated in a special program that introduced them to various subjects like sports, food technology, visual arts and commerce. These activities are designed to help them feel more comfortable and confident as they prepare for this important step in their education.
One of the first things students learned was how to read a timetable and navigate the school map. They also found out who they can go to for help if they need it. Knowing these things will make it much easier for them when they start high school. By exploring different subjects, the students got a sneak peek into what high school might be like. This is a great way for them to discover their interests and passions.
For example, in sports with Mr. Yu, they practiced fundamental movements and worked on their teamwork skills. These skills are not only important for sports but will also help them work well with others in class projects and activities.
In food technology with Mr. Love, students had a blast making delicious corn and zucchini fritters. They learned about food safety and cooking techniques, which are essential skills as they become more independent in high school.
In visual arts with Mrs Janssen, students got creative with lino cutting and painting, choosing their own themes to express their ideas. This creative experience is not just fun, it also allows them to explore their artistic side.
In the commerce class, students came up with their very own business ideas. They had to think about how to make a profit and then present their ideas to the class. This project taught them about teamwork, critical thinking, and how to share their ideas confidently. These skills will be incredibly useful as they move into high school, where they’ll often need to work on group projects and present their work.
Overall, these activities have helped our Year 6 students feel more prepared and excited about high school. They’re not just learning subjects; they’re building confidence and skills that will serve them well in the coming years. We believe this transition experience will make their journey into high school smoother and more enjoyable, setting them up for success in this next chapter of their education!
