Student experience at Kilvington

At Kilvington, we recognise that a student’s overall experience at school is not limited to their classroom-based learning. As young people move through the school, we believe they need to be continually exposed to new opportunities and try new things.

Our students are encouraged to be open-minded and take advantage of available co-curricular and extra-curricular offerings. Our hope is that these experiences spark an interest and might develop into a passion.

CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES IN ELC

These co-curricular opportunities begin in the ELC through our Reggio Emilia-inspired programs. Students are encouraged to be curious and to share their ideas, which are documented in many ways within their classes. Learning extends beyond the classroom through visitors such as Aunty Karan, who teaches students about Indigenous customs and culture.

DIVERSE SPAN OF OFFERINGS IN JUNIOR AND SENIOR SCHOOL

In Junior and Senior School, co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities span across subject domains. In addition, we offer our enrichment and EDGE programs, our Music and Sport programs and our Community Service Program.

YEAR 9 IMPACT PROGRAM

Many of the most memorable experiences happen beyond the school gates. Our Year 9 Impact Program, in which our students go offsite every Friday, is a day dedicated to real-world learning and personal development. Through our unique partnership with Monash University, students are empowered to create their own social enterprise initiatives.

YEARS 3 TO 12 CAMPS

We also offer a rich camp program, compulsory for all students from Year 3 onwards. Camps are an integral part of the student experience, providing a valuable opportunity for students to develop connections with their peers and teachers, build greater independence, collaborate in teams, and step outside their comfort zones. These experiences help foster resilience, confidence and grit.

I'm excited to share we'll be expanding our optional camp offerings in 2026!

Starting next year, students will have the opportunity to select a third option as part of their Year 9 Transformative Expeditions — an international expedition to Cambodia. This will include involvement in a community project, along with time spent exploring Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. In addition to this new offering, students will continue to have the option of expeditions to either the Great South West in Victoria or Cape York in Queensland.

Following a successful trial in 2024, we'll be continuing our Year 10 Community Service Camp in partnership with Flying Fox — a social network that fosters connections between young people with and without disabilities. As part of this experience, students have the opportunity to act as a buddy on one of their camps. This initiative forms part of the Year 10 Character and Connections program, which focuses on personal development and leadership.

GLOBAL CONNECTIONS

Our Global Connections program is in full swing, with trips to both France and Japan offered every two years for Years 10 and 11 students studying the respective languages. In addition, there's also opportunity for students to travel independently to these countries over the summer holidays.

MUSIC CAMP

To support preparation for the Annual Concert, Kilvington will host a Music Camp in Term 3 this year. Students in Years 7 to 12 can participate in this three-day, two-night experience at Warburton in Victoria.

We hope students take full advantage of these opportunities to challenge themselves, discover new interests and broaden their experiences!

More detailed information on these opportunities will be released in due course. For now, here's a summary of what's on offer in 2026:
