Andrew was an outstanding servant of Oakhill College and the ISA, and will be sorely missed.

From the Senior Sports Master

As our summer sports trials and games commenced last weekend and continue into next term, I thank in advance our sport convenors and coaches for their time and efforts in training and preparing our summer teams for the season.   We head into the spring break this weekend and only District Cricket will continue through the break.

Both ISA Basketball and ISA Cricket teams will have friendly pre-season hit-outs on Saturday 14 October, with Round 1 of the ISA and NSTA competition seasons starting the following week, on Saturday 21 October.

A reminder that all students playing summer sport should ensure they have the correct uniform for their sports.  This should be obtained from the Uniform Shop prior to the competition starting.

Mr Matt Stearn - Senior Sports Master

Athletics

Our Athletics season concluded with the ISA championships last Tuesday 12 September, however, unforeseen delays in the 100m races resulted in the cancellation of the 4x100m relays and the final presentations. Nonetheless, our team delivered outstanding results that truly justified the unwavering dedication put into our weekly training sessions. Our Junior and Intermediate teams secured an impressive 3rd place, whilst our Senior team successfully defended our 1st place title; and ultimately our school managed to secure an outstanding 2nd place overall.

A huge thanks to Mr Matthew Stearn and Mrs Sally Richardson for their individual contributions towards Athletics and to Mr Scott Steinman for his unwavering support in coaching the team and work with officials’ duties.

A special mention goes to our dedicated team of coaches: Ron Bendall, Matthew North, Chris Zilifian, Maria Cimino, Dominic Panozzo and David Hudson. Their commitment and guidance have been instrumental in our success this season.

Below is a compilation of some outstanding results achieved by our boys, securing Top 3 positions that have granted them the opportunity to represent ISA at the NSWCIS Championships, which took place yesterday on 19 September. It it worth noting that not all boys were able to participate, including Year 12 due to their farewell event on the same day. Nonetheless, we extend our best wishes for success to all those who competed.

Basketball

Thanks to everyone who came to support our annual A and B team fixture against St Aloysius on Saturday. There was a mixed bag of results but overall it was a successful day. The next pre-season fixture will be held on Saturday 14 October (Saturday of Week 1, Term 4) at Oxford Falls and will see Pius vs Pius in all grades of the 13s, 14, 15s, 17s and Opens. A draw for this fixture will be confirmed closer to the date. We have now also received a Home/Away draw for all 10 rounds of the ISA season. This is subject to change, however we expect limited impact on our teams (See attached). Game times for each week are to be confirmed, however you may use this as a guide to plan travel arrangements.

Training for all teams commences Week 1, please see the attached training timetable for your team’s allotted time. Training is COMPULSORY and non-attendance can result in loss of playing time and further penalties.

Heading into the break we are excited to announce another Pius x GOE Basketball Camp, which will run from 2 - 4 October (Monday to Wednesday) from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at the college (Chatswood Campus). This camp is limited to 20 places per day so please ensure you register quickly to secure your place. The camp is suited to players who are seeking to develop their conceptual understanding of team play and will aim to challenge all participants. You can register at this link: https://www.trybooking.com/CLTUX

(Note: all 3 days are open to anyone from Year 7-11, once all tickets are sold, no more will be made available).

Finally, we would like to congratulate Henry Hecimovic of the 15As for his selection to represent NSW in January at the East Coast Challenge. Henry will compete alongside some of NSW best talent against representative teams from Victoria, South Australia and the ACT. Good luck Henry!
