St John the Baptist

By Damon and Blaze - Year 6

John the Baptist was the son of Priest Zecharia and John's mother

was the cousin of the Virgin Mary.

John lived in the desert for many years at the river Jordan.

Many people came to get baptised by John as a sign of penance and forgiveness of sins.

John poured water over Jesus’s head when he baptised him in the Jordan river and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove came upon him.

John died by being beheaded by King Herod.
