BVPS Girls Football Report

On Thursday 7 September, Ben Venue played Tamworth Public School in the North West final of the girls PSSA football knockout competition. Tamworth PS started very strong with a long range goal, chipping our keeper. The girls kept their heads up and demonstrated persistence on the pitch. It was 2-0 at halftime and the girls lifted in the second half, despite the heat and the wind, showing their determination to come back from the deficit. Tamworth PS had many shots on goal, which our keeper, in her first game in this position, bravely saved. Ben Venue managed to get one in the back of the net towards the end of the game. With the final whistle blowing, the girls were defeated 4-1.

The Ben Venue girls displayed amazing sportsmanship and resilience and should be proud of their efforts. When asked about how they think they went, they stated they had all had wonderful experience across the whole competition and how surprised they were to get this far.

A big thank you to Katie and Trent Hamel from New England Towing for their generous donation of our new shirts, which the girls were very excited to wear for the final.

I wish the girls all the best for high school and hope they continue their football journey.
