Deputy Principal's Message

As the term draws to a close, I would like to wish our students, families and staff a relaxing and safe holiday and thank the school community for another busy, activity-packed term. I look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday 9 October, ready for Term 4.

Ben Venue's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

Like many schools and businesses, Ben Venue is beginning the process of developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). A RAP is a formal statement of commitment to promoting reconciliation between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As part of the RAP process, we will be using the Narragunnawali Framework. More than 1,800 schools and early learning services have a RAP with the Narragunnawali: Reconciliation in Education program. Narragunnawali RAPs help schools and early learning services to foster knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions in a way that is applicable to an educational setting.

We are forming a RAP Working Group which consists of members of our school community who will drive our RAP development and implementation journey. To ensure an authentic and collaborative approach that represents our diverse school community, we would like to invite;

  • members of the local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community,
  • parents/carers, and
  • wider family and community representatives.

Teachers, school executive and other educators are also part of our RAP Working Group.

If you would like to be involved in the RAP Working Group or would like to contribute in any way, please speak to the office, call the school on 67724263, or email benvenue-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au.
