Principal's Message

Mrs Kaileen Carr

We are currently reviewing our Wellbeing policy which includes our Positive Behaviour Learning. After numerous conversations with staff and students we have decided to create a new school mascot which we will launch on Day 1 Term 1 2024. The new school mascot will see us retire the 3 eggs (Eggwina, Eggward, Eggbert). I understand that the eggs have been a huge part of Eglinton PS for a long time. We would love your feedback on our new school mascot. He was designed by Rich Murphy and is a magpie named Garru which is the Wiradjuri word for Magpie.

If you have any feedback, please contact the school via email or phone. We would appreciate your input.

Stage 2 are getting excited about their zoo excursion tomorrow. Please ensure all students are at school ready to board the bus by 5:45am. The bus will be leaving at 6:00am. I am looking forward to hearing all about the excursion when they return to school on Monday.

 2024 Planning and Organisation

Organisation for 2024 is high on our agenda. If you feel there is information about your child that we should consider for class placement in 2024, please put your request in writing. Please submit requests in writing to the Principal by Friday 24 November 2023. Please include the child’s name, current class, request and reason for the request. Please note: All requests remain confidential and will be considered, but there is no guarantee that requests can be met.

Last week was the initial Country Fair meeting. It was great to see some of you there. Another meeting will be held Wednesday 25 October at 3:00pm in the school hall. If we are to have the Country Fair in 2024, we need as much support as possible. If you are able to give up 20 minutes of your time on Wednesday to attend this session it would be greatly appreciated.

We have noticed a few students in the park across the road from the school in the morning. If you have given your child/children permission to be in the park in the mornings, please provide a written note to the school stating that you give them permission to be there. They are required to be in school grounds by 8:50am. If they catch a bus to school they are expected to come directly into school, when they get off the bus.

Riding Bikes to School

Please remind your child/children if they are riding to school to use the bell on their bike to let people know they are behind them. Riders must make sure to take care around pedestrians and slow down when approaching people on the footpath.

Eglinton Public School attendance as at 19th October 2023

Last Week: 90.5%

This week: 90.6%

Goal: 95%

Did you know that for your child to achieve an attendance rate of 95% each term they should have no more than 2 days off.

You can check your child's attendance rate on the Sentral Parents App. Click on their photo, select 'Student Details' and click on 'Attendance'. Our expected student attendance rate is above 95%. To maintain an attendance rate of above 90% a student should have no more than 5 days off a term.

Thank you for supporting us in reaching our attendance goal. The data above shows our current student attendance for the last week. Please ensure you contact the school via the Sentral Parent Portal if your child has a day off to explain their absence.
