Year 7 Pastoral Care

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Here we are, at the end of Term 3 in Year 7 already! Let’s take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey that your daughters in Year 7 have undertaken over the past few months. Their resilience, determination, and commitment to learning have been truly remarkable, and it is pleasing to see that this term has concluded successfully for each and every one of them.

The Year 7 team and I have had the privilege of witnessing your daughters' growth, both academically and personally. Their achievements in the classroom, participation in extracurricular activities, and willingness to support each other have been inspiring. It is evident that they are settling into their roles as secondary students, and we couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments so far.

As we move into Term 4, I’d like to just remind our families and our students about a few important things:

Cyber Safety and Responsible Technology Use:

In today's digital age, it's crucial to be mindful of how our students use technology. As they enjoy their well-deserved break, we would like to remind you of the importance of cyber safety and responsible technology use. Here are some key points to discuss with your daughters:

Protecting Personal Information: Encourage your daughters to be cautious about sharing personal information online, such as their full names, addresses, phone numbers, and school name. Ensure their privacy settings are configured to protect their information.

Thinking Before Posting: Remind them that once something is online, it can be challenging to remove. Encourage them to think before they post or share content, considering how it might impact others.

Respecting Others: Stress the importance of treating online interactions with the same respect and kindness they would in person. Cyberbullying is never acceptable, and we should always strive to build a positive online community.

Balancing Screen Time: While technology is a valuable tool for learning and staying connected, help your daughters find a balance between screen time and other activities such as physical exercise, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Summer Uniform Reminder:

Looking ahead to Term 4, please help ensure that your daughters wear the appropriate summer uniform. Our uniform represents our school, and wearing it with pride and adherence to the guidelines is a reflection of our commitment to the values and traditions we hold dear here at Brigidine College

We encourage you to support your daughters in using this break wisely—to relax, recharge, and reflect on their achievements this term. Our Year 7 Pastoral Care team is here to support them in every way possible, and we value your partnership in their education.

We are confident that Term 4 will bring even more opportunities for growth and success. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Enjoy the well-deserved break, and we look forward to welcoming your daughters back refreshed and ready for the next exciting chapter in their academic journey.

On a personal note, it has been a pleasure taking on this challenging role here at the College and I’d like to thank each parent who has reached out to me thus far, offering support and encouragement. What a wonderful community we have!!

Warm regards,

Tom Inatey

Year 8 Pastoral Care

Dear Parents of Year 8,

As we approach the end of Term 3, we want to extend our gratitude to you for your continued support of your daughter’s education at Brigidine. It's been a productive and eventful term, and no doubt you and your daughter are looking forward to some much deserved holiday time!

Term 3 has seen our Year 8 students engaged in a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities. As we conclude this term, we encourage you to take a moment to celebrate your daughter’s hard work and review how she is currently progressing with her Semester 2 goals.

With the arrival of Term 4 comes warmer weather, and it's time to transition into our Summer Uniforms. Starting from the first day of Term 4, all Year 8 students are expected to wear the Summer Uniform. Please ensure that your daughter is well-prepared with the following items:

  • Summer Dress: Please make sure your daughter has the correct summer dress, ensuring it has been hemmed at the appropriate length. No doubt Year 8 have grown taller since last year!
  • Footwear: Black leather school shoes are required for each day of Summer Uniform with the College socks.
  • Grooming: Neat hairstyles, no make up and appropriate jewellery. Please keep nice or valued/important jewellery at home to minimise the risk of these being damaged or lost.
  • Sport Uniform: School sport top and shorts or pants. Please ensure that the length of your daughter’s shorts are an acceptable length for general appropriateness and function.

Remember that adhering to our uniform policy not only promotes a sense of unity within our College but also ensures the comfort and safety of our students

As the holidays approach, please be mindful of safety.

  • Supervision: Whenever possible, ensure your daughter is supervised, especially if they are spending time with friends or participating in group activities.
  • Online Safety: Talk to your daughter about safe internet use. Remind them not to share personal information online and to be cautious when interacting with strangers on social media. Please monitor your daughter’s online activity and have open conversations about her online activities.

We look forward to welcoming Year 8 students back for Term 4.

Wishing you all a restful and safe holiday break!

Sincerely,

Rebecca Monohan

Year 9 Pastoral Care

Dear Parents and Carers of Year 9,

Term 3 in Review - By Eva Tsonis and Jacqueline Liao from 9 Delany.

This term we had the opportunity to improve our memory study skills during one of the homeroom sessions with (name of company). It was very beneficial to listen to new ideas to study smarter and more efficiently during our assessment period. We also had a fun team-building scavenger hunt with the whole year group which involved heaps of laughter and critical thinking to answer riddles and think outside the box.

This Term Year 9 Delany’s goal was to bring in treats and watch a movie each Friday in the first 20 minutes of the day. This was an enjoyable way to calm down from our weeks of assessment tasks and exams.

Year 9 also had a fun-filled day with the Commerce Market Day. There were many delicious stores that offered doughnuts, ice cream sandwiches, sausage sizzles, pizza and lolly bags. It was a stressful day for Year 9 Commerce students but was a great experience in learning how to start your own business. We also had the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh's adventurous journey which was such a memorable experience. It was one of the most challenging journeys I’ve ever done but was so amazing. We spent quality time in nature, we saw beautiful waterfalls, views and canopies of eucalyptus trees. We slept in tents which was an interesting experience but we all had a great time together.

Uniform:

I wish to draw your attention to the uniform policy at the College. Students should remember that they are ambassadors for Brigidine and so by wearing the uniform correctly and neatly, they show pride in their school and its good name. It is expected that students will conform to the uniform code as this, in itself, is an exercise in self-discipline. The school uniform is also a sign of belonging to the College and the appropriate items are to be worn as required.

  • T-shirts, singlets and any other item of undergarments are not to be visible at the neck of the blouse, or elsewhere. No coloured bras are to be worn under white shirts.
  • Hairstyles are to be well groomed, simple, unsophisticated, appropriate for a school student and of a style and colour that is considered acceptable by the College. Long hair is to be tied back.
  • Coloured nail polish is not to be worn with the uniform. Only clear nail polish is considered acceptable. Nails are to be short to medium length. No fake or acrylic nails are deemed appropriate whilst at school.
  • Makeup - foundation, mascara, fake eyelashes or lash lifts, fake tan or bronzing products or similar - must not be worn with the uniform.
  • Jewellery - A student may wear:
    • one small plain gold or silver earring in each earlobe
    • a wrist watch
    • a small religious icon or cross on a thin chain worn inside the uniform and sitting below the uniform’s collar or top button
  • Students who choose to wear non-regulation items of jewellery will have these items confiscated. They will be stored in the College safe and returned to the student at the end of that school term

Sports Uniform - Year 9

  • May be worn to and from school when a student has a sports lesson during the day.

Year 10 Pastoral Care

Dear Year 10 Students,

As we bid farewell to another term packed with hard work, dedication, and achievement, it's time to shift gears and welcome the warmer season with open arms. With assessments behind us, we can now look forward to a well-deserved break and the start of Term 4 in our full summer uniform.

But before we dive into those exciting summer vibes, let's take a moment to remind ourselves of the importance of being in the correct uniform from day one. At Brigidine College Randwick, our uniform represents not only our school's identity but also our unity as a community. It's a symbol of pride and belonging that we wear with honour.

As we step into the new term, it's essential that we start on the right foot—dressed in our complete summer uniform. This reflects our commitment to maintaining the high standards and values of Brigidine College. A neat and proper uniform sets a positive tone for the start of a new term and shows our readiness to engage in the learning and growth that lies ahead.

Now, as the term break approaches, we encourage you to take some time to relax, rejuvenate, and recharge your batteries. Enjoy the beautiful weather, spend time with loved ones, and engage in activities that bring you joy and fulfilment. Whether it's travelling, reading, playing sports, or simply lounging by the beach. Make the most of this break.

Let's return for Term 4 with renewed energy, positivity, and a touch of the summer sun. Embrace the opportunity to learn, grow, and make a difference within our school and beyond. We look forward to seeing you all back in your vibrant summer uniforms, ready to make this term a success.

Have a fantastic break!

Regards,

Year 11 Pastoral Care

Term 3 is coming to an end very fast! All girls need to be congratulated on their approach to the end of Year 11 Examinations. They got off to a rocky start in regards to NESA protocols and processes however they are on track at the moment, with full attendance so far. The following of these protocols are very important so as to see a smooth transition into the Trial HSC and the HSC next year.

The leadership nomination process is finally complete. I would like to thank and congratulate all students who put their hands up for nomination and challenged themselves by putting themselves out there. Well done girls. The final leadership positions are as follows:

Profile Captains

College Captain: Sienna Williams

Vice Captain: Olivia Daley

Faith and Charism: Molly Menzel

Social Justice: Emily Grimmond

Arts and Culture: Maika Joss

SRC: Jasmine Miller

Sustainability: Emily Smith

House Captains

Aquinas: Sienna Christiansen, Mia Mitchell

Brigid: Holly Mintoff, Chloe Soulakellis

Delany: Samantha Doyle, Jessie Ryan

Regina Mundi: Macey Johnson. Carla Zaarour

Winifred: Sienna Beadon, Dakota Murray

Xavier: Mikayla Burke, Rhianna Mendes

To finish, I am quite excited to see Year 11 move into the official role of College leaders in Term 4. With this comes obvious responsibilities. One of the major responsibilities I believe as leaders of the College is to model the correct uniform requirements for the rest of the school. If I could please ask Parents and Guardians to communicate this message to their daughters so that we start off the term on the right note - that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Year 12 Pastoral Care

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Year 12 students have now reached the end of their academic journey!

It is now that they all have the moral compass, the skills and basic understanding of life that will keep them in good hands.

Our Year 12 cohort has always impressed us as cohesive, and respectful and their enthusiasm for College life has demonstrated such amazing qualities. They are a resilient, compassionate group of young women and their love of learning has been of such a high standard. Furthermore, their interpersonal skills with one another and with their teachers has exemplified a high level of maturity and emotional intelligence far beyond their years.

They have been a source of strength and perseverance for the College community as they have been inspirational in their enthusiasm and spirit towards College life.

To my Pastoral team, I express my deepest and sincerest gratitude for their constant support, dedication and commitment towards our students over the past five years. They also have been a source of strength and support for me throughout the years. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Ms Rose, Ms. Blackshaw, Ms Mabey, Ms Bataille, Ms Mabey, Ms Evdokimova, Mr Lyon, Ms Monohan, Ms Mazzeri, Ms Forwood and Ms Waterhouse. They all have provided such care, guidance, and counselling, being great role models for our Year 12 students. My position at the College has been strengthened by their ongoing presence and commitment.

To the Year 12 Parents, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for all your support and understanding over the past five years which I will always truly remember. You are a mirror image of your daughters and I will treasure all the amazing experiences and memories I have been able to witness as a Year Coordinator- which I have always seen as a true honour in the guidance of young women in the 21st Century.

I wish Year 12 every blessing and success in the HSC and may we all be able to count our blessings for our future,
