Be strong and courageous,
for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
(Joshua 1:9)
During Week 8, I had the privilege of spending six days alongside our graduating cohort at their Year 12 retreat. The central theme revolved around Courage, delving into its biblical underpinnings, its relevance in everyday life, and the science behind fear and courage. Throughout the retreat, they reflected on their journey at Brigidine and the imperative of nurturing a courageous spirit as they ventured into the unknown.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the young women for their remarkable enthusiasm and their willingness to be both vulnerable and open during these three days of introspection. The students bore witness to the retreat's guiding theme, "Be strong and courageous," as evident in their readiness to step beyond the realms of the familiar, their compassionate care for one another, and their desire to connect with those they may not have known as intimately.
This incredible experience would not have been possible without an extraordinary team of teachers who, amid the end-of-term chaos, recognized the value and significance of the Year 12 retreat.
The Year 12 Graduation Mass is a tradition deeply embedded in our school's culture and history. It is a moment that symbolises the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and personal growth.
Over the incredible span of six years, Year 12 has been immersed in the Charism of St. Brigid. As our cherished students set forth on their new and exhilarating adventures, we passionately invoke the spirit of St. Brigid to walk beside them as they step beyond the embrace of Brigidine. We pray that they will be forever inspired by the radiant example of St. Brigid, becoming beacons of compassion, courage, hope, service, and justice in every facet of their remarkable journeys ahead.
During mass, our graduating class received two significant symbols of our faith:
Term 4, Week 1
Tuesday 10 October
The Archdiocesan Religious Education Test is conducted annually for all students across Sydney Catholic Schools in Years 8 and 10.
The test gauges student knowledge across the five strands taught in their respective Stages.
Preparation for this test commenced early last term. For further understanding of the requirements of this test, I have linked the presentation shown to students at the start of Term 3.
In December, at our Presentation Day Ceremonies, we recognise outstanding student achievement in the Archdiocesan test, celebrating the students who achieve a High Distinction and place in the top 10% of all candidates across the state.
Further information regarding the test will be sent to parents and guardians at the commencement of Term 4.
Have a wonderful term break!
