Book Week 2024 - Reading is Magic

And we certainly had a magic Character Parade last Monday. It was fantastic to see so many children dressed in costumes and enjoying themselves as they paraded for their friends, teachers and parents.

We had such a variety of characters such as Harry Potter, Spiderman, Belle, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, Billie B Brown, witches, magicians, Minecraft, Minions, Bananas in Pyjamas, Baby-Sitters Club, Very Hungry Caterpillar, just to name a few. We even had the Greek God Apollo. And the teachers joined in the spirit of the day by being book characters with a magical theme. During the parade every class was able to show off their costumes to the rest of the school.

Our library leaders did an amazing job comparing the event. They talked about the magic of reading, showed the Book Week winning books and directed the school in the parade. They also joined in with their classes for their final parade of primary school.

Thank you everyone for making such an effort with your costumes, for all the parents and carers who attended, for all the teacher’s assistance and for the children who had so much fun.

The fun then continued for the rest of the day, with every class going to the library to show their costumes, read and borrow books. Those children who donated a book to the library took their book/s home with them. Thank you again for such generosity with book donations. We now have nearly 150 new books in our library.

Altogether it was a wonderful day of celebration.
