First Eucharist

First Eucharist Mass

Congratulations to Hannah Browne, David Denbrok, Fletcher McRae, Julian Riccardi,       Ivy Reidy, Winter Roberts and Matilda Sherriff who made their First Communion on Saturday evening in the St Laurence’s Church. They were amongst 10 children who made this sacrament on the night. Father Stanly led the service reminding all present that each time we celebrate the Eucharist, Christ is present amidst us in the consecrated bread and wine, in the Word that is proclaimed, especially in the Gospel where we listen to his own very words, in each one of us who comes together to worship and give thanks in the priest who presides.

Altar Serving

Any child who has made their sacrament of First Eucharist (otherwise known as Holy Communion) is invited to become an altar boy or altar girl at our school and weekend masses. Father Stanly will train students in this role.

If your child is interested contact Catherine Riseley, our REL Leader, via email at criseley@stlleongatha.catholic.edu.au

First Eucharist Retreat

On Friday, 30 August 2024 Grade 4 students from St Joseph's Korumburra and St Laurence Primary School attended a Eucharist Retreat at Mary Mackillop led by Scott Blencowe and his Year 10 Youth Ministry class.

Students had a fun day being immersed in many and varied activities that built upon their understanding of the Eucharist. Students participated in a liturgy led by Father Stanly and enjoyed making bread, reenacting the Last Supper, sharing a meal or morning tea, meditating, making an altar banner for the First Eucharist masses and practicing the ritual of how to receive Jesus in the form of Holy Communion.

Candidates making their First Eucharist also received the sacrament of  Reconciliation with Father Stanly.
