Year of Challenge: Health Week
Our Year 9 students embarked on an enriching and transformative journey during the Year of Challenge - Health Week, from 10 to 14 June 2024. The special week was designed to equip our students with the tools and knowledge to foster resilience, build safe relationships, and understand the power of their words.
The Health Week kicked off with an inspiring talk from Eric Agyeman, the author of the journal "Unstoppable" that we have been using in our homeroom devotion time. Eric shared his personal testimony, captivating our students with his powerful message on the influence and impact of words. His story set the tone for a week of reflection and growth.
Throughout the week, our students participated in a series of engaging workshops. Sharon Witt, renowned for her work in youth resilience, conducted sessions that empowered our students to build their resilience and face challenges with confidence. Joy-lee Kilpatrick led insightful workshops on safe relationships, providing valuable guidance on how to foster healthy and respectful connections with others.
We were also privileged to have Kate Austin from Pinchapoo. Kate shared her inspiring story and highlighted the incredible work she and her organization are doing across Australia to support people in need. Her presentation was an emotional reminder of the importance of empathy and community service.
The week concluded with a full-day workshop hosted by The Big Kids Table. The focus of this workshop was to work through some hard-hitting questions about the Bible and relationships. This immersive experience allowed our students to consolidate their learnings and put them into practice through interactive activities and discussions.
Year 9: Year of Challenge - Health Week was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on our students. We are incredibly grateful to all our guest speakers and workshop leaders for their contributions and for helping our students grow in resilience, empathy, and understanding.
