Prep 100 Days

Preps are 100 DAYS BRIGHTER

On Wednesday 7 August 2024, Prep students together with their teachers, Mrs Simone Scheepers,  Mrs Michaela McGookin and Miss Natasha James, celebrated their 100 Days at school. This year's theme is 100 Days Brighter.    Our Prep students arrived at school in their brightly coloured clothes and they looked amazing.

We started our day by giving the students 100 dollars (play money) and writing about what we would spend the money on. Some of their responses were pretty funny, we had a few giant teddy bears, trips to Disney land, and Ferrari's.

We then reflected on how much we have grown in the past 100 days and how we came to school we couldn't do all the things we do so well now, like reading and writing. Our Prep students have grown so much; it is amazing to watch them grow daily.

After recess, we focused on how to count to 100 and we got out 100 counters in the class and put them in groups of 10. Students quickly learned that by counting in 10's we can get to 100 a lot quicker. Using concrete materials allowed them to visualise and understand how big the number 100 is and what the number 100 represents by 10 groups of 10.

We then made fruit loop necklaces that were supposed to have 100 fruit loops on the string. Most students made it to 50 fruit loops and they ended up eating the rest. This activity was resilience-building for us teachers and the preps. We are very proud of their counting and how far their fine motor skills have come.

Students loved taking photos with their sunglasses on and it was a great way for them to celebrate being 100 days brighter.
