RYDA
Last week our Year 10 students had the opportunity to attend a Road & Driver Safety Workshop conducted by Road Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA Tasmania).
The program focuses on attitude and awareness with the aim of making students better people on the road. Presenters include road safety experts, driving instructors, Police, recovering survivors of road crashes and drug and alcohol educators. The program is directed towards young people as they approach the period of their life when they start driving a car or ride as a passenger in a car driven by one of their peers.

Cultural Awareness
Kingston Early Learning Centre (KELC) celebrated their families from India this week, as they marked Indian Independence Day with some simple artwork on the children's hands.
KELC invited our Indian/Australian Year 10 student, Fiona Buruzukrindhi, to spend her lunch hour with them, creating art on the children's hands to mark this special week in their culture. Fiona used simple black eyeliner makeup, which easily washes off with warm water and soap. The Educators were able to try some henna paint on their hands.
Independence Day in India is a national holiday celebrated on 15 August. Independence Day marks the end of British rule in 1947 which was brought about by the Indian Independence Act of July 18 that year, which established a free and independent Indian nation. It also marks the anniversary of the partition of the subcontinent into two countries, India and Pakistan, which occurred at midnight on August 14–15, 1947. In Pakistan, Independence Day is celebrated on August 14.
