Grade 3/4 Hooptime

A selection of students from Grade 3 and 4 recently participated in the Junior Hooptime Basketball Competition at Dandenong Basketball Stadium.

We had one team in the All Stars competition who had a very successful day! They boys won all of their games, some very comfortably, including the semi final and the grand final and will progress through to the next level of competition. They played so well as a team, really supported each other and possessed a very high level of skill.

We had four Future Stars teams represent Kalinda. Every team recorded at least two wins each. Our Future Stars 2 team didn’t drop a game all day and were the Champions of the Future Stars competition! We wish them well as they continue their Hooptime journey.

Our Rookies team, consisting of players who were new to basketball competition, had great fun developing their skills as the day went on. They too recorded multiple wins for the day!

Congratulations to all students who participated on the day. As usual, we were very proud of the way our students represented our school, showing great team work, encouragement, resilience and such a high level of skill!

A big thank you to our parent helpers for coaching, scoring and supporting us on the day! We couldn't possibly run an event like this without your support.

Grade 5/6 HOOP TIME

A group of selected Grade 5/6 students recently took part in the Hoop Time competition at Dandenong Basketball Stadium. Throughout the event, our teams played multiple short basketball games against other schools, and those who succeeded progressed to the finals.

This year’s competition was challenging, with many schools we hadn’t faced before. Our teams rose to the occasion and persevered through every game. The Kalinda teams played exceptionally well together, with their skills and teamwork improving from the first to the last match. The students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, supporting each other enthusiastically and showing respect towards their opponents and referees.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Joel, Charles, Georgi, and Vern, our wonderful Kalinda parents, who played a crucial role in coaching the teams on the day. We wouldn’t have been able to register as many teams as we did without their support, and we greatly appreciate their help.

Kind Regards,
