The Meaning of Brave

Being brave has to be safe. Being brave is not jumping from train to train. That’s just called risk. Being brave is overcoming your safe fears.

 

The 7 Ways to Be Brave

Story 1. Telling the Truth

Anna Yokoyama was invited to her friend's place. They had a lot of fragile things such as glass cups, gemstones and glass plates. Anna was running down the hallway when suddenly… CRASH! She hit the glass cups and one by one they all fell down and they got shattered. Anna only managed to catch the last two. Her friend’s mum walked into the hallway to see what had happened. Anna hid. Then she came out. She thought being brave and telling the truth would be best. She went and told her friend’s mum and she forgave Anna.

 

Story 2. Being an Upstander

Marcel Williamson was walking around the whole school when he saw someone getting bullied. The boy being bullied wasn’t showing any body language. Marcel saw that the bully was trying to threaten the boy. Marcel went and told the bully to stop. The bully stopped right away and realised it wasn’t the right thing to do.

 

Story 3. Standing Up for Yourself

Theresah Zarkandi was reading the newspaper when suddenly someone came and snatched it off her saying “Ooh! This is interesting,” and ran off, taking the paper with him. Theresah told the yard duty teacher and the boy was very sorry and he gave the news back to Theresah.

 

Story 4. Asking for Help

Janet Brooks was trying to find a dictionary. She had been looking in the library for a whole three hours! Why didn’t she ask a staff member? She was too shy! Her Mum told her to go and ask a staff member, so she did, and everything worked out.

 

Story 5. Joining In

Daneil Hogan was invited to Cruze's birthday. He didn’t know any of the people though. He was nervous. They finally arrived at the party. Daniel wanted to leave. His Mum didn’t let him. Instead, he was told to make friends with the others. Daniel did and everything worked out. They had so much fun together!

 

Story 6. Saying Sorry 

One day, Kyle Barnes was sitting at his desk. His pencil case was sitting on the table with the zip open. Lang came to show him something. Lang accidentally knocked Kyle’s pencil case and the contents spilled over the floor. Lang said sorry and helped Kyle to pick it all up. Lang was forgiven.

 

Story 7. Not being Scared of New Things.

Eddie Waston went to Bounce. He wanted to go on the rock climbing wall. When they got there, he was nervous. It was finally his turn. It was so high up! Eddie went up trembling. When he finally made it to the top, he jumped off the wall. It was so fun! He landed safely on the ground and his mum cheered. He then asked to go again!
