Principal's Report 

 Dear Parents, 

What a wonderful celebration of dads and special persons we saw last Monday! It was such a pleasure to see the joy on the faces of children and adults alike at our assembly, in the gardens and in classrooms. Thank you for making such an effort to be here and be a part of everything that makes being a dad so special. You can see more of the highlights from this day later in the newsletter. 

In other news, last week we noticed several students with mobile phones on them during school time.  As such, it is a timely reminder to all in our community that Department of Education policy states that students must switch their phones off and have them secured away during school hours. At Mackellar Primary School that requires students to hand their phones in at the main office in the morning, and pick them up at the end of the day. This ensures students can have them to and from school, however it also ensures they are not used during the school day.  

Of course sanctions and consequences can occur for not adhering to these rules, however we would much prefer to work with students and families to ensure a sensible and safe approach to this policy. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. 

A reminder for parents with preps for next year. To be eligible for the $400 School Saver Bonus for next year's prep students, enrolments must be finalised by mid-October. Parents of 2025 prep students who have not enrolled by this time will not be eligible for the $400 for that child to be used on camps, uniforms or other school items. Please be sure to enrol on time to avoid missing out. 

As we enter the footy finals, it's also time to get our favourite football gear ready to wear on the last day of the term, Friday September 20. On this day students can order a football lunch from the canteen, dress in their favourite football or sporting gear, and take part in some football activities run by the AFL.  Parents are most welcome as always, and it will be great to see everyone finishing the term on such a high.

Finally a reminder that on the 20th of September school will finish at 2:30pm. Please mark this in your diary as students will need to be collected early on this day. TheirCare will operate from 2:30pm for those children needing supervision, so please book in if required.
