Digital Tech:

Spotlight - Year 5/6 Community

This term, we wrapped up our lessons on binary numbers, where we learned how computers use simple ones and zeros to do everything from showing pictures to running games. The students had fun with activities that helped them understand how this basic code is the foundation of all digital technology. By the end of this unit, they were able to convert numbers into binary and back, and see how this code works behind the scenes in the devices they use every day.

Now, we’ve just started exploring a new and exciting topic: 'Ethics in Artificial Intelligence.' Last week, we kicked off discussions about how AI affects our world, like how it can raise questions about privacy or fairness. We’re diving into these ideas through fun activities that get everyone thinking about what’s right and wrong when it comes to using AI. This part of our lessons is all about understanding the big impact technology can have on our lives and making sure we use it responsibly.
