Father's Day Wrap

After torrential rain and gale-force winds overnight, we were bathed in sunlight at our Fathers' Day Breakfast last Friday morning. It was great to see so many people in attendance, and our children loved dressing up in their Footy Colours with their dads.

Thank you to all our wonderful staff and parent helpers who assisted at the breakfast and stall, making the day a success.

While I'm sure everyone appreciated the gifts bought from our Fathers' Day Stall, sometimes the simpler things can bring a tear to the eye, such as these creations from our Year 3/4 children.

MACSSIS Family Survey

In 2024, our school is participating in Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings that students, families and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify our school's strengths and areas for improvement. MACSSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable community insights on areas that each school can focus on. Our school believes it is important to encourage families to have a voice and contribute to shaping the school's ongoing improvement.

Yesterday, we sent the survey link to a cohort of randomly selected families and invited them to participate in the survey.

The survey is available online, can be accessed from Monday 2 September and needs to be completed by Friday 20 September 2024. This survey may only be completed once.

Italian Day

On Wednesday 16th October (Term 4, Week 2) our children will be participating in the ‘Corpus Christi Italian Day”.  This is an exciting day where we, as a school community, will celebrate all things Italian. The children will participate in FOUR special activities they have selected during their Italian lesson.

For those who have selected a cooking activity, the ingredients are listed below. Feel free to see me if you have any questions.

  • Pizzelle (Waffle) Making - (plain flour, eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, oil, lemon rind, cooking spray)
  • Pasta Making - (plain flour, eggs, tomato passata, salt, pepper, garlic, basil)

Our wonderful PFA is organising a pizza and gelati lunch as part of the celebrations. Details and order forms will be sent out this week.

To add to the atmosphere, we would love the children to come to school dressed in something that reflects Italian culture. In the past, we have been graced with the presence of an international soccer player, an ancient Roman soldier, an Italian Chef and even a Disney Princess or two. Italian colours (red, white, and green) can also be used to make a colourful costume. Of course, this is entirely optional, but the children will have the opportunity to parade their costumes at our special assembly.

An Operoo form will be sent out this week seeking volunteers who are willing and able to lend a hand. The only requirement is that you must have a current Working With Children Check

Stay tuned for further details.

Medication

This is a reminder that if your child requires medication of any sort to be administered at school, a Medical Authority Form (available from the school office) must be completed and handed in. Children are not allowed to bring their own medication (including Panadol/Nurofen) to school.

Uniform

As mentioned in last week's Newsletter and again at assembly on Monday, an increasing number of children are taking liberties with our school uniform. Our school uniform is part of our identity and is expected to be worn correctly and with pride.

Now that reminders have been given, notices will be sent home to families of children who continue to present incorrectly. These must be signed and returned to the school detailing rectification actions.

I thank all children who continually adhere to our uniform expectations and are role models for their peers.

Learning Conferences

Term 3 Learning Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, 18th September, between 2:00pm and 8:00pm.
