Newsletter Term 3 Week 7
Dear Parents and Carers,
The Concert certainly lived up to all expectations and was a successful school community event. It provided all of our children with an opportunity to gain experience in the Performing Arts and is something they won’t forget! It was lovely to watch the enjoyment on the children’s faces as they performed on stage.
Although there is a sense of relief that concert week is over, we must pause for a moment to take stock of the positive impact it has for students and the greater school community. A huge THANK YOU goes out to every staff member for the time, energy and effort during the last number of months to make the concert a real success. Over 1400 tickets were sold during the three performances which is a clear indication that this event is appreciated by the school community. Appreciation goes out to the parents, extended family members and friends who supported the school by purchasing tickets or photos. A concert video will be available soon… stay tuned! Thank you to everyone who supported the concert week and witnessed the growth of our students on stage.
GRADE 5 CAMP
This week continued to be a busy week for many of our students with the Grade 5 camp kicking off on Monday. I attended the camp on Monday and Tuesday and saw our students experience the wonder of the Grampians (Gariwerd) and were involved in a number of team-based activities and individual challenges. This year saw the inclusion of abseiling to the activities list and challenged many of our students to overcome some fears and give things a go. The ice-cream from the local shop was a far easier task to undertake and was a little reward for being so engaged in the activities.
POST CONCERT
Beyond on the concert we have a number of events to look forward to:
- Our Father’s Day stall is on Friday 30th August. This will take place in the Chinese room where students will be able to select the present they wish to purchase.
- Thursday 3rd September we have our Ballarat Young Author’s third workshop at Australian Catholic University.
- Grade 4 Camp will occur in the last week of the term and this year they are gong Coastal to Coastal Forrest Lodge - Anglesea
- Footy colours day is on the last day of the term. This is a chance for students to dress up in their football colours. This can be AFL or soccer colours. On the day the teachers will be playing the Grade 5/6 students in a football match.
FACILITIES UPDATE
On Friday while we had the students away, we added some extra padding around the 5-6 playground. This playground will be painted during the school holidays to give it a face lift. The Grade 4 portable area will also have some new seating and landscaping works completed to make this space more inviting.

Mobile Phones at School
It has been widely advertised over the past few years that mobile phones in school can be major distractions to the learning process but also create major issues if used inappropriately. It is for this reason that all schools are required to have a Mobile Phone Policy. The Delacombe Primary School Policy can be found in the link below.
The policy states that:
- Students who require their phone at school must have parent permission.
- All mobile phones brought to school must be kept in a secure location.
- If students require their phone on them during the day, they must seek approval from school leadership.
- Breeches of the mobile phone policy fall within the Acceptable use of Technology guidelines
