Aoife's Message
Good morning Holy Cross families,
This term is absolutely jam packed, I'm extremely grateful to our staff for ensuring that the learning in class continues to be connected in meaningful ways to each of the events taking place. Our Year 5/6 children had an incredible time on camp, there's a comprehensive write up of this in the Holy Cross Happenings section, along with some joy-filled photos. Sincere thanks to the camp team; Kate J, Lisa, Pat, Luke, Kate B, Kathleen, Wendy, Bernie, Maryanne and Kellie who ensured our children were well looked after.
Science Week has been filled with questions, predictions, experiments, analysis, joy and discovery. How fortunate we are to have families to join us in ensuring the week was a success, thank you for sharing your expertise with us! This week has complemented the work already taking place across the term in each class as we currently have a science focus for discovery and inquiry. Check out the Learning & Teaching section for more information.
We also had a 36 strong group of athletes take part in District athletics on Tuesday, thank you to Casey for organising and to Pat, Kath P, Kellie and Elise Howley for helping to run events and supervise. In between all of this we have had in class prayer gatherings, a class Mass and the creation of a kindness chain to acknowledge the National Week of Action against bullying. Did we mention that literacy, numeracy and all other curriculum areas are still bubbling along in the midst of everything?! Book Week is also just around the corner - next Friday in fact. We can't wait to discuss just why reading really is magic!
Sacrament of Eucharist Commitment Masses
Father Vincent welcomed our Year 4 children and their families to Mass last weekend. The children, parents and wider parish all prayed together in preparation for this special Sacrament which will take place in early September. Our Year 4 children and their families will gather together for a Family Faith night next Tuesday. Please keep these children in your prayers.
Reminder: Semester Two - Parent Engagement sessions
Thank you to the families who were able to join our second Parent Engagement session focused on Discovery. We were delighted to be able to share our current practices and to have you experience the deep engagement that takes place . Our next Parent Engagement opportunities are listed below. Please consider joining us if you're available.
Session 3: Wednesday 28th August, 9:10am, Let's Look at Literacy (Yr 3-6 Reading focus)
Keep an eye out for further dates and times related to P-6 Faith, Yr 3-6 Writing, P-2 Reading & Writing and Yr 3-6 Inquiry, all of which will take place in Term 4.
Each year all MACS schools take part in a survey to gather data about all aspects of our school. MACSSIS survey timeframe is fast approaching. Our children in Year 4-6 will complete this survey at school. A number of families will also be invited to complete the survey via email. We use this data to help drive school improvement and to set targets for the following year. If you receive this survey, please consider taking the time to fill it in so we can continue to ensure that Holy Cross is a place where children flourish.
MACS has also recently published their 2023 Annual Report. Please scan the QR code to access the document.
Have a relaxing weekend,
Aoife
Feast of the Assumption of Mary
Father in heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise, for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom she who bore the Christ in her womb was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
All students attending Holy Cross Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
