This is what our students have been up to this week.
Last Friday the Australian Open Trophies visited Mount Beauty Primary School.
At assembly, last week, we were lucky to get a visit from the Australian Open Tennis Men's (Norm) and Women's (Daph) Trophies. Students enjoyed a presentation from Tennis Victoria representative, Joanne Maples, who spoke about the tournament, its history, how the trophies are hand-made, and all things tennis!
Afterwards our school captains, Mack and Sophie, carried the trophies (using special white gloves because only the winners can touch them) 🏆 over to the Mount Beauty Tennis Club, with students following behind. Each class enjoyed a 30min tennis session with local tennis coach Andy Shuttleworth and junior experts Zelk, Emily and Billi.
A big thank you to Tennis Australia, Tennis Victoria, Paul and the Mount Beauty Tennis Club, and Andy Shuttleworth and his team for providing a wonderful experience for our school.
After assembly 4/5 K watched the videos about how 'Daph' and 'Norm' are hand made each year out of pure Australian gold and silver.

After watching the videos our class wrote about their invesigation findings. Here is a sample of the work.
