Personal and Social Capability

CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in the Resilience Project, the Grade 2 students will identify our emotions when we show and receive kindness.

VOCABULARY

Kindness is about being generous and considerate of others' needs.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

With your child, discuss some simple ideas to help kids understand kindness:

  1. Helping Others: Offering to help a friend who is struggling with something, like carrying their backpack or sharing supplies.
  2. Using Nice Words: Saying "please," "thank you," and "you're welcome" shows respect and makes others feel good.
  3. Being a Good Listener: Paying attention when someone is speaking and showing that you care about what they say.
  4. Sharing: Sharing toys or games during playtime is a great way to show kindness to classmates.
  5. Compliments: Telling someone something nice about them, like "You did a great job on your drawing!" can brighten their day.
  6. Being Inclusive: Inviting someone to join in a game or activity so they don’t feel left out.
  7. Showing Empathy: Understanding how someone else feels and being supportive, like comforting a friend who is sad.
