Reading
CURRICULUM FOCUS
This week in Reading, the Grade 2s are inferring the feelings of characters through their dialogue.
VOCABULARY
Characters are the people, animals, or creatures in a story.
Inferring is when you figure out something that isn’t directly said by using clues from the text.
Dialogue is the conversation between characters in a story.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Read a text with your child from their blue satchel or from your home library. Stop throughout the book and ask your child the following:
- Can you infer how the character is feeling?
- What clues help you to infer how the character is feeling?
