From the Senior Leadership

Year 11 Presentation Ceremony

Congratulations to all of our Year 11 students who received awards at our presentation ceremony this week marking the end of the Preliminary course. During this ceremony students were recognised for their commitment to their learning, participation in extracurricular and service activities as well as academic achievement.

The impressive number of award recipients highlights the strong dedication this cohort has shown to their studies and college life throughout Year 11. This commitment will undoubtedly serve them well as they embark on their HSC journey, which officially begins this term.

A special thank you to all parents, carers, and families who joined us for this wonderful community celebration. The morning tea in the café was a delightful highlight for our senior students and their families.

We wish all of the students in the Year 12 class of 2025 every success in their HSC studies and encourage them to remain open to feedback from their peers and teachers in order to continue to grow and excel.

COLLEGE PE UNIFORM-SPORTS SHORTS

With regards to student presentation, the emphasis is always  on  neatness,  good  grooming  and  wearing  the  College  uniform with pride and dignity both in and outside the College.  All  students are expected  to wear  the  full  correct sports uniform during their practical PE lessons, on a Thursday for Sport and when representing the College. It is timely to review the PE uniform to ensure we continue to maintain a high standard that allows our students to feel confident and be able to engage fully in all physical activities whether this is in PDHPE or sport.

It is therefore timely as we progress towards the end of 2024, that we work together in partnership as school and families to check the length and sizing of the College PE/Sport uniform shorts.

Expectations around the sports shorts include:

  • The sport shorts need to be a correct fit allround. In particular, the length of the short MUST be mid thigh.
  • PE/sports shorts are not to be rolled at the waist. This is already clearly stated in the College Diary under uniform expectations.

IT has been noted that some students have had their PE/sport shorts since starting at Caroline Chisholm college in Year  7. Over the years as students have grown taller, the shorts may have become inappropriate for students to fully engage in a range of  physical and sporting activities. As a result, we ask students and parents to review your sports shorts to ensure they are ‘ fit for purpose’ as outlined and are at the appropriate leg length (mid thigh).

We are asking over the next couple of weeks that students and families take the time to check this with your daughter to ensure PE shorts are at the specified length as described. In Weeks 8 & 9  Term 4 2024, Homeroom and PE teachers will check short length and if inappropriate a note will be sent home regarding this issue. As of 2025 there will be uniform warnings regarding incorrect sport short length and further consequences if not rectified. This information has been communicated to the students via our College Assembly.

We ask for your full support and cooperation in ensuring that students have the correct length shorts in accordance with our high expectations for all parts of the Chisholm college uniform.
