Westernport Basketball Clinics Come to St Brendan's

A huge thank you to Meg and the Westernport Basketball Association for running three fantastic weeks of basketball clinics at St Brendan’s! Meg was not only fun and engaging but also incredibly knowledgeable, and the students thoroughly enjoyed learning from her. We are so grateful for her time, support, and patience with all of us!

In addition to the clinics, the Westernport Basketball Association generously donated 10 basketballs to our school, ensuring the students can bounce their hearts out every day

If your child is interested in learning more about basketball, Westernport Basketball is offering a free session with Meg and the juniors. This is ideal for kids aged 5-10. To book your first free session, please email meg@wpba.com.au.

Meg has also mentioned that she runs sessions for Mum's on a Tuesday between 10:30 and 11:30. She runs through drills and a short games play and then you get cake and coffee after. I will DEFINITELY be heading down next year after I have this big beautiful baby, so be sure to head down and have a play.

St Brendan’s Regional Athletics Results

On Monday, 21st October, three of our amazing students proudly represented St Brendan's at the Regional Athletics Day held at Casey Fields. I am incredibly proud of their efforts, dedication, and the courage it took to compete at this level. Each has written a summary of their experience, sharing their achievements and reflections.

Congratulations to our superstars for this fantastic accomplishment! We are so proud of you!

Mia C - High Jump (Year 4)

There was a lot of noise coming from the stands (cheering), there was lots of fast people running in the relay, 100m, 200m and 400m. I think my event went really well, there was a lot of tall people, a lot of high jumpers and I’m very proud of myself. I came 4th.

Archie J - 800m (Year 5)

It was nerve wracking but a very good experience though. I came 9th out of 15.

Leah A - Long Jump (Year 6)

It was a very big place, a lot of people and there were a lot of contestants to go against. It was really good experience.

Boys 5/6 Cricket Team Division Day

On Tuesday, 22nd October, Ms. Holly Waldock joined our Boys 5/6 Cricket Team at the Mt Martha Cricket Ground to compete in the Division competition. It was a beautiful sunny day, perfect for cricket! Although we didn’t come away with the win, the boys gave it their absolute best and showed great sportsmanship.

A huge thank you to the parents for taking the 8 students to the ground and supporting the team. Special thanks to Talia B., who kindly scored for both teams in both games—Holly and the entire team were incredibly grateful!

Our boys netball division A came runners up in the grand final!

Girls AFL and Boys Netball Gala Day

On Friday, 25th October, St Brendan’s was proudly represented at the Bayside District Gala Day in Frankston, with one Girls AFL team and two Boys Netball teams competing against local schools. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to explore sports they may not usually play, and the day was filled with excitement and teamwork!

Our Boys Netball teams had a strong showing. The Section B team narrowly missed the grand final, finishing in third place after a close draw in the tournament. The Section A team had a stellar run, dropping only one game before advancing to the grand final. The final was an impressive match against Bayside Christian College, where our boys displayed excellent netball skills and teamwork. Although we finished as Runners Up by just two goals, I couldn’t be prouder of their efforts and sportsmanship.

The Girls AFL team had an outstanding day, showcasing solid defensive skills and fearless tackling. They returned undefeated, having kicked an impressive number of goals, and proudly brought home the golden plaque for St Brendan’s!

A big thank you to our dedicated teachers and the parents who volunteered on the day. Your support made this day possible, and we are grateful for all you do!
