Kindy gardens

Last week, our Kindergarten students pulled on their gardening gloves and planted seeds and vegetable seedlings in their raised gardens. They made sure they watered the plants in well and covered the soil with lucerne mulch.

  • "I learned that when plants are growing from seed you can't pick them up to help them stand up. You have to be patient, they will stand up straight by themselves." Reva KG
  • "I planted a lettuce plant. I dug hole with a little shovel and put the plant in the hole. Then I sprinkled it with water." Simeon KG
  • "We can make lots of veggies. We have to water them and give them sun." Linkin KA
  • "We stuck a hole in the dirt and put the seeds in. They will grow into beans, they are up a little bit." Ziggie KA
  • "Yesterday, I watered the plants." Logan KH
  • "They need lots of water to grow. The sun helps the plants to make food. I don't think I'll eat the vegetables when they are ready". Charis KH

We are looking forward to watching our lettuce, beetroot, capsicums, cucumbers, beans, basil and tomatoes grow. We think they will be delicious.

Dragontag has everyone flying (and breathing fire)

On Tuesday 22 October, our Years 5 and 6 students attended the Stage 3 Dragontag Gala Day in Albion Park. The St George-Illawarra Dragons development team were there to help run an exciting skills and games day for over 400 students from local Christian schools.

Girls had their skill development session whilst the boys played three matches of oztag against students of similar ability levels. After a break for some refreshments the srtudents swapped around and the girls played their matches whilst the boys did some skills and drills with the coaches. Much fun was had by all.

The students played with zest and zeal, giving their best efforts in all activities. Most pleasing of all, they played in a wonderful spirit, congratulating their opposition after the matches with '3 cheers' and thanking the student referees.

  • Cayden: watching our team win.
  • Emilie: how some of it was a challenge because it was fun to try.

Our Debut at Shoalhaven League Tag Gala Day

On Thursday 24 October, Fourteen Year 8 and 9 students represented NCS at the Shoalhaven Ladies League Tag Gala Day at Lyrebird Park. For many on the team, this was their first time playing league tag (and for some, their very first Gala Day!), yet they tackled the challenge with determination and enthusiasm.

In the pool round, we faced off against Bomaderry High, Kiama High and Nowra High, finishing in 4th place. While we didn’t secure any wins in these matches, the team’s confidence and skills noticeably improved with each game. Our perseverance paid off in the final match against Shoalhaven High, where we claimed victory with two tries, ending the day on a high note.

We are grateful for the opportunity to compete against local schools and appreciate the spectator support from our parents. A special thanks to Mr Hefferan and Mr Norsworthy for handling transportation, helping with the setup and the well-deserved Macca’s stop on the way home!

Driving towards safety: Year 10 learns key road skills at RYDA

As part of the Year 10 PDHPE program, students took part in the RYDA Road Safety Education workshop, a highly engaging and impactful event designed to enhance their understanding of road safety. This one-day workshop provided an interactive learning experience, equipping students with essential knowledge and tools to make safer decisions on the road.

Led by a team of trained facilitators, including driving instructors and community sector specialists, the workshop covered key aspects of road safety, helping students become more aware of the risks and responsibilities they will face as future drivers and road users. The practical insights gained through RYDA will support students in making informed, responsible choices on the road.

Operation Christmas Child a huge success!

We would like to thank everyone who donated items for Operation Christmas Child and made our participation in this important ministry possible.

This year we are able to bless 114 children with a Christmas gift box filled with Toys, Clothing, Items for School and Self Care.

Thank you to those who donated money which pays for ‘The Greatest Journey’ discipleship course and for the shipping of the boxes.

We raised $1,584 through our online giving page.

16 children will be able to participate in the discipleship course.

The boxes have now been collected and are awaiting final shipment.

But most importantly thank you for filling each Christmas box with love and shining the light of Jesus into a child’s life.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NIV)

NCS MTB stars compete at Greenvalleys MTB Park

On 25 October, Sim T, Tom HS and Cruz S travelled to Greenvalleys Mountain Bike Park in Tongarra, NSW to compete in the Interschools competition being held there. There were a large number of riders, some coming a long way to compete. Sim tore through the course with pace, Tom was the steez king on the jumps and Cruz tore through the rock garden with ease. Not many crashes were had by our school. The day was very enjoyable for all as it was a good day riding bikes and having fun.
