Spotlight on the Arts

Congratulations to Lillian Smith in Year 10 on her remarkable new art installation, What Ties Us Here, located near the Picnic Rug. Through skilled wire welding, Lillian has crafted a site-specific human figure, creatively capturing the sense of joy and belonging that connects every student to Mount Alvernia College. We invite you to view Lillian's artist statement below.
“What Ties Us Here”
Wire welding has been used to create this site-specific sculpture of a human. In line with the idea that all students like or enjoy their time at this school at some point and whether that thing is a teacher, student, friend, class, place, culture, or something else there is always going to be something that ties the students of Mount Alvernia to this school. This sculpture 'What Ties Us Here' has been positioned in a way that makes it look like it is overjoyed and happy to be in this school of Mount Alvernia representing a visual of what every student at Mt A feels at some point during their time here.
