Day for Daniel

We wanted to take a moment to highlight the importance of Day for Daniel. This day holds special meaning as it reminds us about the value of safety, friendship, and looking out for one another.

Daniel was a young boy who tragically lost his life many years ago. While his story is heartbreaking, it has inspired a lasting commitment to teaching children how to stay safe. Daniel’s family, through their foundation, continues to share important lessons about safety that benefit every child.

Here are four key safety tips we can all remember:

Stay Close To People You Know: Whether out in public or in a new environment, always stick with family or friends.

Know Who To Trust: Identify safe adults like teachers, parents, or family friends. If ever in doubt or feeling unsafe, seek help from a trusted adult.

Be Aware Of Your Surroundings: Pay attention to where you are and who is around you. If something feels off, trust your instincts and move to a safer place.

Talk About Your Feelings: If you're ever feeling scared or uncertain, it's important to talk about it with someone you trust. Speaking up can bring clarity and comfort.

At our school, we prioritise safety and encourage open communication. Let's make Day for Daniel a day to reinforce these values—not just today, but every day.

Thank you for being part of our caring and supportive community.

Today during Day for Daniel, our students participated in fun and engaging activities focused on personal safety. Teachers held age-appropriate discussions in classrooms to help children understand important safety concepts, such as recognizing safe and unsafe situations and the importance of speaking up.

The Year 6 Wellbeing Leaders did a wonderful job leading a special assembly where they shared important safety messages.

As many of you know, The Daniel Morcombe Foundation is dedicated to child safety and prevention, raising awareness about personal safety for children and families. This aligns closely with our commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for our students.

Thank you to all the families who donated a gold coin, which will contribute to the foundation’s ongoing efforts.
