Student Wellbeing

In 2H, students wrote about their age, name, things they're good at, favorite activities, best friends, and favourite foods, it's heartwarming to see how such a simple task can have profound effects on their self-esteem and sense of identity.

As the students engaged in this exercise, it became evident how much they enjoyed celebrating their individuality. By articulating their strengths—like being good at drawing or playing soccer—they began to recognise their unique talents. This not only fostered a sense of pride but also encouraged them to appreciate the things that make them special.

Discussing their favourite activities and foods allowed them to connect over shared interests, reinforcing friendships and building community. It was delightful to see their faces light up when they mentioned their best friends, showcasing the importance of social connections in their lives.

Overall, this activity served as a beautiful reminder of the importance of self-love and appreciation. It prompted the children to reflect on what they value about themselves and their lives, instilling a positive mindset. By focusing on what they love about themselves, they learned to embrace their uniqueness, laying a foundation for resilience and confidence that will benefit them in the years to come.

In 2TR and 2EN, students completed a "Kindness Tree" activity during Wellbeing lessons recently.  This activity provided a reminder to the students about how our words can have an effect on others.

The activity involved the students writing kind words and thoughts about another student in the class on a leaf and adding it to the tree.  The students needed to think of kind things to write such as "your a good friend" or "you're good at...". It was so nice to see them engaging with each other, telling each other about what they were writing. The reactions of the person hearing about what was being written about them was one of sheer delight.

The trees are on display in the classrooms and provide a reminder to students about how much a kind word can mean to someone else.  It is lovely to see the smiles on the faces of the students at the read their leaf on the class "Kindness Tree"
