Welcome Back to Term 4!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the start of Term 4 at St. Mary's! This is always an exciting yet busy time as we head toward the end of the school year. While there are many activities and events to look forward to, we like to begin each term by revisiting our school rules and expectations, both in the classroom and out on the yard. It’s important that we all work together to ensure a respectful, responsible, and resilient environment for everyone.

Focusing on Resilience in

Week 1-2

As we have began Term 4, we have been focusing on resilience. Resilience is all about bouncing back when things don’t go our way, showing persistence, and having a positive attitude even in tough situations. Here are some examples of what resilience looks like for our primary-aged students:

  • Trying again after getting an answer wrong: Not giving up when things get tricky, but continuing to work through challenges.
  • Including others in games, even if you don’t win: Handling disappointment with a positive attitude and finding joy in playing with friends.
  • Staying calm when you make a mistake: Taking a deep breath, learning from the mistake, and giving it another go.
  • Seeking help when you need it: Knowing when to ask for help and using feedback to improve, rather than feeling discouraged.
  • Persisting with a difficult task: When a subject or activity feels hard, not giving up but pushing through and being proud of your efforts.

We encourage you to talk with your child about how they can show resilience at school and celebrate their efforts when they display this important value. We also congratulate all our Honour Board reciepients for exmplifying this school value over the past 2 weeks.

Melbourne Marathon

A huge congratulations to our very own Mr. Daly, who completed the Melbourne Marathon last weekend! This incredible achievement saw him conquer a grueling 42.2-kilometer course, showcasing not only his physical endurance but also his determination and perseverance. The Melbourne Marathon is one of Australia's premier running events, and many participants run to raise awareness and funds for various charitable causes. Mr. Daly’s participation highlights his commitment to both personal fitness and supporting a meaningful cause. We’re so proud of his hard work and dedication— Well done, Mr. Daly!

SUNSMART Reminder

As we enter Term 4 and the weather warms up, it’s essential to prioritise sun safety for our students. Please ensure your child has a hat and sunscreen if required for use during recess, lunchtime and any outdoor activities. Emphasising the importance of wearing these items will help protect them from harmful UV rays Cancer Council Victoria SunSmart.

Our staff will also be enforcing these sun safety measures at school to keep all our students sun smart. No Hat No Play!

Thank you for your support!

We look forward to a fantastic Term 4 filled with learning, growth, and lots of memorable moments!

Warm regards,
