SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

Trinity Broccoli Festival!

There was so much excitement last week as students harvested our delicious broccoli! We had so many volunteers from across our school to help with cooking! Ms Sally and myself had 20 assistant chefs harvesting, washing, chopping, cooking and serving our delicious snacks, fried with garlic and salt! At least 180 students came to eat and loved it and most came back for three helpings! It was so wonderful to see our students so excited about eating our own delicious vegetables.

Our Gardening Club students were busy in our gardens today! The carrot seeds we planted in term 2 have finally produced carrots, so we were very excited about picking them and enjoying their delicious, sweet taste.

Waterwatch visits Trinity

The Year 3/4s have been chosen to work with Waterwatch to be Citizen Scientists, measuring water quality in our local creeks. Today we worked with Julia Cirillo, from Waterwatch to learn about how pollution gets into our waterways, and some simple actions we can take to reduce this. In a few weeks we will use our new knowledge out in the community as we work along the Merri Creek.

SUPER 20% DISCOUNTS - ORDER YOUR FRUIT AND VEGETABLE BOXES

HELP US FUNDRAISE!

Farmers’ Pick have offered us a huge 20% off for all new orders! Trinity is participating in the ‘Feed Our School’ fundraising initiative by Farmers Pick, an organisation that prevents ‘perfectly imperfect’ fruit and veg from ending up in landfill by selling boxes of this produce that supermarkets can't. Families can order fruit and veg boxes online, and have it conveniently delivered to Trinity every Tuesday.  Better yet, their produce is priced up to 30% less than at the supermarket, and Trinity receives $5 for every box ordered! See flyers attached for more information.

CAN YOU HELP US?We would love to find a volunteer to repot our lemon tree into a larger pot. It gives us many beautiful lemons but desperately needs repotting in order to survive. If you can help please contact Ms Belinda at bnechwatal@tcs.catholic.edu.au.

NUDE FOOD DAY - THURSDAYS

Congratulations to 5/6FA this week with 15 rubbish free lunches! We ask students to choose foods which create no rubbish to bring for lunch on this day. Some great ideas can be found at https://www.nudefoodday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/HOW-TO-PACK-A-NUDE-FOOD-LUNCH.pdf

Have a great week everyone! Thanks for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
