Last week some of Year 6 students attended St Ignatius Parish House for their Confirmation Retreat. The Confirmation Candidates spent the morning learning about St Ignatius, his life and the way in which he lived the way Jesus taught us. They also explored different saints in choosing their own saint name for Confirmation. A special thank you to Licia and Fr Trung Nguyen SJ for their time (and the ice creams) and allowing us to have this special time in the Parish House.
We continue to pray for the Candidates as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation on Tuesday, 29th October at 7pm.
The Candidates and their families will also partcipate in a Family Night next week on Thursday 24th October at 6:30pm.
Over the next few weeks they will continue to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation working through the program 'Journeying Together to Confirmation'.
What is Vision for Instruction?
In February 2024, Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) introduced a new plan to help every student succeed: our Vision for Instruction. At MACS and at Trinity, we hold high expectations for every learner in every school, ensuring they have a solid foundation in literacy and numeracy, as well as good social skills. Based on evidence of how students learn best, Vision for Instruction promotes a unified and consistent approach, and continuous improvement to meet the changing needs of our students. It provides MACS teachers with the training and resources they need to ensure excellence and equity in all our schools.
This week our Year 6 students participated in the 'Passport to Success' Transition Program which helps them prepare for their transiton to secondary school. This is the first of a series of sessions in this program which will take place across this term in readiness for Year 7. We look forward to sharing their learning across this term.
On Tuesday, our Year 4 students had an amazing day of learning at St Mary's College in St Kilda....
We had a couple of beautiful mornings this week as our Year 3/4 and 5/6 classes enjoyed Bike Ed. Thanks to Ms Rachel McLeary for organising this for our children. It's amazing to see their riding skills develop so quickly!
This week our Prep children had a visit from some firefighters from the local fire station. This was a very exciting visit for our Prep students who had many questions for them. They will be back to see us in 2 weeks with their firetruck!
This coming Sunday, on the 20th of October 'Childrens Liturgy of the Word' will take place at the Richmond Catholic Parish for children from Prep to Year 6. This will be happening during the 11am Mass at St James Church. Fr Trung Nguyen SJ will be saying Mass at St James Church this Sunday.
Children who attend Mass with their families will be invited to join the Children's Liturgy of the Word. The children will leave the church at the beginning of Mass and return by the Offertory Procession.
The children will listen to the Word of God and have the opportunity to discuss the Gospel message and how they can practise this in their own lives. This will help them to develop their own understandings and relationship with God.
This will be run by myself and supported by a group of school parents/parish members. If you are interested in helping or being involved in some way I would encourage you to make contact with me.
I invite families to join us for the 11am Mass on Sunday 20th October, where the children will have the opportunity to participate in the Children's Liturgy. This will take place weekly each Sunday at St James Church until the end of the school year.
Children's Liturgy Dates for this term:
20/10
27/10
10/11
17/11
24/11
1/12
8/12
I am looking forward to seeing the children from Trinity at the Sunday Mass for the Children's Liturgy.
