Leadership Report
Wow! I can't believe it's only the end of Week 4 - it almost feels like the end of the school year ... well, actually, for me, that's exactly what it is! I'll be on leave for the remainder of 2024, leaving Magill School in the capable hands of Daniela Lawlor and the team to bring it home.
Before I go, there are some staffing changes for 2025. Firstly, we send our best wishes to Kasey Thorne, who is taking leave for all of next year. I am pleased to announce that Sonia Magon has accepted the position to step into Kasey's role. Sonia brings a wealth of leadership experience and will be a valuable addition to our team.
We also congratulate two departing staff members. Finn Fitzgerald has won a teaching position at Grange Primary School, where he'll be much closer to his home and family. Finn has been an incredible part of our school for many years now, working with students from Year 2 to Year 5. Clare Willsmore will also be leaving us to accept a permanent position in the private sector. Clare's work ethic and dedication over the past few years have been outstanding. While we'll miss these two excellent teachers, we are excited for their next chapter and wish them both every success.
As this is my last newsletter, I would like to acknowledge the wonderful work of the Magill School staff. Their dedication and commitment to providing the best learning environment possible is to be commended. I am very proud to lead such an outstanding group of teachers and school support officers who make Magill School such a great place to be.
Great communities make great schools; and Magill is the perfect example. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderfully diverse community, representing cultures from all around the globe, all coming together with shared support for our students. The encouragement and involvement from our families is greatly appreciated by all our staff, and are key factors in making our school a truly special environment. Thank you.
Finally, a special mention to our Magill students. They never cease to amaze me. It's a joy and a privilege to witness their curiosity, eagerness to learn, and the positive energy they bring to each school day. Their willingness to learn and challenge themselves is remarkable, and it's hard not to get caught up in the endless possibilities that lie ahead.
As is the case every year, there are changes ahead. Our Year 6 students will be leaving us, as will several others. I'd like to wish all those students and their families the very best for the future. I sincerely hope that, in years to come, your memories of your time at Magill will bring you joy.
Wishing everyone a wonderful run home to the end to the year, a joyful holiday season, and a Happy New Year!
Kind regards,
John Iannunzio
