PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MRS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL

Today marks World Teachers' Day, a time to express our appreciation for the exceptional educators around the globe, particularly the remarkable teachers within our own school. While the teaching profession occasionally faces criticism and comes with its own set of challenges, I can confidently say that I would not choose to pursue any other career. My 30 years in education have been incredibly fulfilling.

Working at St Mary MacKillop College makes my job better because I have great coworkers who always put our students first. I am grateful for the collective effort of our teachers, support staff, and families, which transforms our school into a vibrant community.

Yesterday, we welcomed our new Spanish Teacher for 2025, Miss Diana Cetina, who spent the day with us. Upon dropping her off at the train station this morning, she remarked, "I have definitely made the right decision." She too recognised the welcoming and supportive environment that defines our school.

Currently, we are in the process of electing our student leaders for 2025, and I am pleased to announce that our College Captains for that year are:

Koby McMillan, Brooke Pearson, Bella Henderson and Charli Lovell

As our Year 12 students finalize their exams and prepare for graduation, Bella, Charli, Koby, and Brooke will take up their leadership roles within our student body. In our upcoming newsletter, we will introduce the rest of our student leaders for 2025.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the parents, guardians, and families who attended our End of Year Mass and Year 12 Final Assembly. It was a wonderful celebration that provided an appropriate opportunity to congratulate our Year 12 students on their last day of formal schooling after 13 years.

On this World Teachers' Day, I encourage you to reflect on a remarkable teacher who impacted your educational journey. I am personally thankful for the many exceptional educators I encountered throughout my studies, particularly Miss Lyn Woodburn (Porter), who inspired me to view mathematics from a new perspective and fostered my love for learning.
