I really enjoyed my time working at Marraboor Pharmacy, I developed new skills and gained a lot of confidence speaking with customers. I liked being able to help people and connect with customers.

During my week at work experience I had the opportunity to spend two days at Seed Ability and three days at Eloquent Speech Pathology. I was able to sit in on sessions at both places and get a feel for what they do everyday and what the job is like. A highlight was interacting with the kids and being able to sit in on adult OT sessions. I learnt skills like patience with the kids as they take their time to complete tasks and get distracted easily, listening by making the kids feel heard and listening closely in speech for mistakes and communication with the kids in ways they would understand as well as with the workers to ask questions and understand. I would like to thank both businesses for allowing me to go there and I really enjoyed my time.

For my week I went out with David Henson Building. I enjoyed learning new skills and learning about how the building industry works and what they do on a day to day basis. I would like to thank David Henson and his team for allowing me the opportunity to have the week building with them.

During my week of work experience I went to the Swan Hill Hospital. I spent two days in emergency and three days in midwifery. In the emergency department I had the opportunity to be with the nurses, doctors, patients and the nurse practitioner. In midwifery I had the opportunity to sit in on midwife appointments, be able to find heartbeats, do observations and put on CTG machines. I thoroughly enjoyed my week and I will still be heading in a midwifery/nursing career path.

For my work experience week I continued my School Based Apprenticeship for the week with Todd McInnes who is a builder. During the week, we travelled out to Kyalite where he is currently working out on an almond farm building an outdoor kitchen area for all of the workers. On one of the days we were in town at his shed welding all of the brackets onto the posts getting ready to take them out to Kyalite. I would like to thank Todd for giving me an apprenticeship and giving me a chance.

During my week of work experience I was lucky enough to be at the Swan Hill Hospital. I did two days of nursing, but found I enjoyed the allied health sector more. I found working with the physios and OTs, they had more time to interact with the patients and I was able to learn different skills such as patience and communication. I enjoyed helping the patients and sometimes being the only person they talked to that whole day. Being an OT or physio is something I would like to pursue. I'm grateful for this opportunity and would like to thank the Swan Hill District Hospital for giving me this opportunity.

For work experience I went to O’Connors which is the dealership of Case IH. During my week I went to various farms to fix machinery. It was interesting to see all the electronics side to the new tractors and how they use computers to fix them. One of my favourite days was on the last day where I went to a big farm near Moulamein and worked on two 8250 headers. It was really fun and I enjoyed the weeks worth of experience.

For my work experience I attended Movement Training with Milly Op'tHoog from Monday the 14th of October-Thursday the 17th of October. Throughout this experience I went through multiple activities and aspects of Exercise Physiology. There is a lot more involved in the job than I initially thought, it’s more than prescribing exercise, it’s making a connection with the client, progressing their overall strength, mobility and taking care of their overall wellbeing and keeping in contact to assure good management. Other activities that I got to be involved in was Pilates and HIIT and Strength workouts which was my personal favourite, working and participating with clients while exercising was a clear highlight and thoroughly enjoyed. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed working with someone as talented and incredibly good at her job in Milly Op’t Hoog, I am very grateful for the opportunity and value highly what I’ve learnt and the connections made.
