WCC Strikes Gold at Corio Volleyball Event
On October 23rd, WCC’s Volleyball class headed to Corio for a one-day competition, entering a Year 9/10 boys’ team and a Year 9/10 girls’ team against schools including North Geelong, Northern Bay, and Manor Lakes.
Girls’ TeamThe girls started strong, taking their first match 26–24 and 25–18, and remained undefeated heading into the finals. In a thrilling match against North Geelong Secondary, they held their composure to win 26–24 and 26–24. A fantastic effort from all players, and special thanks to Hana Timo (Year 11) for her coaching support.
Boys’ TeamAfter a close opening loss to Northern Bay, the boys fought back to defeat North Geelong and Manor Lakes — including an impressive 25–3 win. Facing Northern Bay again in the finals, they secured victory with sets of 26–24 and 24–22.Special mentions to Beh Reh Poe, who stepped up as setter, and Joseph Sarum, who captained the team with great leadership.

Under 14 Boys Rugby: A Brave Start with Big Potential
The Under 14 Boys Rugby team faced their toughest challenge yet in their season opener, taking on the top side in the league. For many of our players who are mostly Year 7s, it was their first experience with full-contact rugby, and the difference in size, strength, and experience was immediately clear.
Despite being overwhelmed early on, the boys showed remarkable courage and resilience. As the game progressed, you could see them begin to gel as a team, finding their rhythm and producing moments of brilliance with big tackles, determined runs, and flashes of teamwork that lifted everyone’s spirits.
Although the scoreboard didn’t fall in our favour, this young team showed immense potential and character. With every match, they’ll only grow stronger. Keep an eye on this squad there’s a bright future ahead for our boys
