Community & Positive Environment

As we enter Term 4, we reflect on the growth, achievements, and resilience shown by our students and staff throughout the year. This term provides an opportunity to celebrate accomplishments, strengthen connections, and finish the year on a positive note. Across the coming weeks, there will be many moments to acknowledge the hard work, progress, and spirit that define our school community — from classroom learning and co-curricular activities to special events and celebrations. Together, we look forward to making the final term a memorable and rewarding one for all.
Year 8 Active Girls Day at Bounce & Easter Beach What a day! Our girls had an absolute blast at Active Girls Day, taking on ninja warrior courses, climbing walls, trampoline basketball, and plenty of jumping fun at Bounce, in the last week of Term 3. The energy was electric, with everyone pushing themselves to try new things, cheer each other on, and celebrate the power of being active together.
The fun didn’t stop there—we also headed to Easter Beach for a Walk and Talk session, where students had the chance to share their voices in a relaxed setting, followed by a game of beach volleyball. It was the perfect mix of movement, teamwork, and connection.
What made this experience extra special is that it all came directly from student voice. Through our Walk and Talks and student forums, the idea of an active day was raised, showing just how much our students value opportunities to be active, challenge themselves, and connect with their peers. Seeing those ideas come to life—and the joy on everyone’s faces—was truly inspiring.
A massive thank you to the team at Bounce, who not only hosted such a fantastic experience but also generously provided free food and drinks for the group, this was facilitated from our contact Camilla at Wyndham City Council. Their support helped make the day one to remember!
I would also like to thank Ms Atkinson and Ms Bruce for attending the event.
Also last Term our college had the exciting opportunity to host two elite athletes from the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) – Reba Stewart (Taekwondo) and Tinka Easton (Judo). Both are outstanding competitors who have represented Australia on the international stage, and they generously shared their stories with our students.
Reba and Tinka spoke about their sporting journeys, giving students a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to compete at the highest level. They highlighted the incredible highs of their careers, such as representing their country and achieving personal milestones, but also spoke honestly about the lows – setbacks, injuries, and times when things didn’t go to plan. Their reflections provided powerful lessons on the importance of persistence, resilience, and maintaining a positive mindset through challenges.
A key theme throughout the session was how athletes approach obstacles. Reba, as an Olympic taekwondo competitor, explained how she stays calm and focused in high-pressure bouts, while Tinka shared how discipline and strategy have been central to her success in judo. Both emphasised the importance of perseverance, learning from setbacks, and surrounding yourself with strong support networks. These messages really resonated with students, showing how the strategies of elite athletes can be applied not just in sport, but in school, work, and life.
The visit finished with a question and answer session, where students asked thoughtful and engaging questions. From preparation routines, to balancing sport with study, to dealing with pressure, Reba and Tinka responded with honesty and insight. The quality of the questions showed how inspired our students were to learn from their experiences.
We are very grateful to the VIS for making this visit possible and to Reba Stewart and Tinka Easton for taking the time to share their journeys with us.
Community BBQ Brings the Spirit at Parent–Teacher Interviews
Last term’s Parent–Teacher Interviews were made even more enjoyable thanks to our school community BBQ. The event was a huge success, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere for families, students, and staff to connect outside the classroom.
The delicious BBQ added to the sense of community spirit that makes our school so special. It was wonderful to see so many families taking the time to chat, share a meal, and celebrate the positive relationships that support student learning.
A big thank-you to our amazing staff who volunteered their time to help run the BBQ — your support and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated and contributed to making the event such a success.
Events like these truly highlight the strength of our school community and the value of coming together to celebrate education and connection.
