Year 11 Biology rat dissection

As part of their study of cells, tissues, organs and systems, students in year 11 had the opportunity to dissect preserved male rats. They prepared the sample by pinning it to the wax board, then used surgical tools to open the rat up to see the internal organisation and structures. Students examine how the various organs fit together and are held in place with connective tissue. They examine the bones, joints and muscles, learning how organisms are able to move.
