House Dinners

In the first week of term, our Senior School students and Junior School House Captains joined with Heads of House and House Tutors at our Annual House Dinners. Over three evenings of lovely food, great company, entertaining acts and heartfelt toasts, they celebrated each other and their Houses.

Tournament of Minds

Participating in Tournament of Minds (TOM) this year was an unforgettable experience for all of us. This year, we began with eight teams at the regional competition across all disciplines. Through weeks of preparing, six of our teams made it to the state finals held in Melbourne. The state finals saw us facing many teams who were just as prepared as we were. The competition was challenging, but our Senior STEM and Language Literature teams got through to the international finals.

Attending and participating in the international finals was an incredible experience. At the opening ceremony on Friday, all the teams gathered in the courtyard, and excitement filled the air. Being able to see all the students, just like us, hear their stories from abroad, and get a deeper perspective into their lives was eye opening. Our Language Literature team showcased their incredible skills and creative story telling every step of the way. Their attitude and spirit reflected the passion and teamwork that TOM is all about, displaying their dedication as an integral part of our experience.

Our STEM team was able to celebrate the incredible achievement of earning honours at internationals. Seeing the hard work pay off was truly a rewarding experience, and a moment we'll never forget. Working together as a team taught us about the improtance collaboration, problem-solving and persistence.

Competing against teams from other countries was inspiring. Seeing everyone so passionate about their solution, taking part in the wonderful creativity in the challenge, and seeing all the different approaches that were taken was fascinating. Beyond just the competition, we had so much fun meeting all the new, like-minded people. So many friendships were made and even more memories created.

We are proud of everything we have accomplished this year. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Tournament of Minds.

Girton Graduate Positions with Girton Grammar

Full time, 12 Month fixed term, $56,000

Girton Grammar School is offering two fantastic roles for motivated current Year 12 students who are ready to make an impact in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Graduate AV & IT Technician Placement

Each year, Girton Grammar School offers a unique opportunity for a recent Year 12 graduate to join the ICT and AV team as a Graduate AV & IT Support Technician. This 12-month placement provides hands-on experience across two dynamic areas of school operations — Information Technology and Audio-Visual production.

Working within a supportive team, the successful applicant will assist with day-to-day IT tasks, provide helpdesk support to staff and students, and contribute to AV setups for school events such as assemblies, concerts, and performances. The role provides invaluable exposure to both the technical and creative sides of technology, helping bridge the gap between school and future study or employment in the tech field.

Our current Graduate Technician, Oliver Willits, shares his experience:

“It has been an incredibly enlightening experience to step into this role straight after graduating Year 12. Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to work in both the IT and AV fields, learning practical skills firsthand. From the very beginning, I was warmly welcomed into the team. The role is incredibly diverse, offering hands-on involvement in both the day-to-day technical operations of the school and supporting various small and large events. Some of the most memorable moments have come from working behind the scenes on major school events such as Foundation Day, Speech Night, the Ensembles, Drama Performances, and weekly assemblies.”

This position is ideal for a Girton graduate with an interest in technology, media, or live production who is keen to learn in a real-world environment. The placement includes mentoring from experienced IT and AV professionals, providing a strong foundation for further study or a career in the technology sector.

Applications for the 2026 Graduate AV & IT Technician Placement will open soon. For more information, please contact the HR Department.
