As we plan for the 2026 school year, the class teachers will be organising class placements. Much time and effort will be placed into these decisions, with the teacher’s knowledge of friendships and how their students work best in the classroom. Considerations are also made on new students to the College and student learning needs across the cohort, to support a balanced class in all areas.
We appreciate your trust in our expertise in forming our classes, which are prepared with thorough review and discussion with the Primary Teaching Staff. Whilst we understand parents may have requests for specific teachers or peer groups, this is not our process and would appreciate your understanding.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs Fellowes: afellowes@clayfield.qld.edu.au.
It’s that wonderful time of year again; our Class Christmas Parties are coming up! Each teacher will be in touch soon to share details about what your child’s class will be doing to celebrate, including plans for gifts, Secret Santas, food, and the timing of their party.
When choosing or making gifts, we encourage families to think about the true spirit of Christmas. A heartfelt, handmade gift or card can be especially meaningful and will help make our celebrations even more special.

Remaining students will stay with their teachers with the following arrangements:

Our boys shone brightly at the Britton Shield Basketball held on Monday. All teams played with enthusiasm and determination. Our Under 12s brought back a trophy whilst the other teams played some tightly contested matches.
Thank you to Ms Lewin, Mr O’Rourke and Miss Coombes for their support of the boys.

The Prep to Year 1 Swimming Carnival held on Wednesday was an exciting event, showcasing the enthusiasm and growing confidence of our youngest students as they demonstrated their swimming skills.
Thank you to Ms Lewin, Ms Cattanach and Mrs Richardson for their outstanding organisation, and to all our dedicated coaches for their guidance and support throughout the year.

On Tuesday, we proudly celebrated the sporting achievements of our students at the Sports Awards Assembly. A heartfelt thank you to Ms Lewin and the entire Sports Department for their outstanding organisation of this event. It was a joy to recognise the dedication and talent of students who participated in Andrews Cup and Britton Shield sports throughout Semester 2.
Congratulations to all the trophy and medal recipients, your commitment and sportsmanship have been truly commendable.

Speech Night is on Tuesday 18 November, where all Year 6 students who are continuing onto Secondary School at Clayfield College will take part in a special presentation. Please refer to communication sent from the Enrolments Team with further instructions.

As part of our community service, Year 2 students visited The Clayfield Retirement Village this week. We enjoyed a lovely walk there together, stopping along the way for a refreshing iceblock. When we arrived, we spent time doing Christmas craft and reconnecting with our friends who had visited us earlier in the year. It was a wonderful morning filled with smiles, creativity, and kindness.

Due to LUX preparations, please be advised that Years 3 to 6 Homework Club will be relocated to Room 56 from Thursday 6 November to Tuesday 18 November. Room 56 is a Year 6 classroom adjacent to the Amphitheatre.
The 2026 Primary Student Leadership process is well underway, and we have been so impressed by the calibre of students who applied this year. It’s been the largest group yet! After thoughtful interviews with Mrs Fellowes and myself, a number of outstanding candidates have been shortlisted. Each spoke articulately and authentically about their leadership qualities, their motivations for applying, and their ideas to make Clayfield College an even stronger and more connected community.
The next step in the process will take place Thursday, when our Primary Captain hopefuls deliver their speeches to students in Years 2 to 5. House Captain speeches will follow on Friday, with students voting within their House groups.
We are incredibly proud of all students who have shown courage and initiative by taking part in this process, and we look forward to announcing our 2026 Primary Leaders at our upcoming Primary Presentation Day.
Our Primary Remembrance Service was a moving and meaningful occasion as students gathered in the amphitheatre to pay their respects and reflect in silence on those who have lost their lives in war or conflict.
Many wore poppies with pride as a symbol of remembrance, and the atmosphere was one of quiet gratitude and respect. Our Primary Captains, together with Rev. Paul Yarrow, led a thoughtful prayer and service that captured the spirit of remembrance.
