Dear Families & Friends
We hope you had a wonderful long weekend, enjoyed the beautiful summer days and relaxed when the rain came down to water our gardens. Thank you to all the people who have bought in their household batteries that are ready to be recycled. You have all done an amazing job. Next week is our last week of collecting the batteries, so if you can check with family, friends and neighbours if they have any they need to get rid of, we would be grateful.

Next week on Wednesday we celebrate our Community Mass. We invite you all to attend the Mass with us beginning at 9.30am at St Thomas the Apostle Church. We have been practicing our reading, analyzing the Gospel and learning new songs in preparation.
Congratulations to our Year 4 Winners of the Christmas Card Design Competition.

English:

This week the students will began to explore the text The Arrival. The students were actively trying to understand the story, as there are no words, only pictures to tell the story. Students began learning about the vocabulary of nefarious and vignette. Next week the students continue working on challenging vocabulary such as altruistic, building interesting sentences that use descriptive language and creating their own visuals to explain words or situations (without text). They will also continue to infer what happens via the pictures in the text 'The Arrival'.
Below are some pictures from our classrooms of the students practicing their typing skills with the school approved 'Nessy Typing'.

Mathematics:
This week the students will be using a number of 3D objects to create a new object while learning about the use of perspective to create a drawing of 3D shapes. The students have been using isometric paper to help the shape and form of the shapes. Next week the students will continue to create new objects with 3D shapes to create a new playground and design their ultimate Lego Structure.
Religious Education:
This week we practiced our songs, had a Mass Practice to get ready for next week and learnt about Remembrance Day. Next week our main focus is on attending the Remembrance Day prayer service on Tuesday and our community Mass on Wednesday.
Social & Emotional Learning & Integrated Studies:
Due to the short week we were unable to complete Social Emotional Learning and Integrated Studies learning. Next week we are learning to identify people we can turn to for help if needed and will identify people they are able to help. They will learn how to combine trust and courage when they need to seek help and will identity ways to use the ‘tell’, step in the No, Go, Tell model.
Auslan:
This week we began a new unit, called 'At the zoo'. Next week, as we finish these tasks we will move our focus to 'In the sea'.
