Years F & 1

We started last week with the students writing about the night they had at the Halloween Disco. It was so much fun hearing about all the things they got up to and seeing them write about it was even better. We focused on making sure our sentences had a who, what, when and where.

We have started our foundation transition for 2026 and we had such a fun morning welcoming them into the classroom. They settled in nicely and had great fun joining in and practicing ready for school next year. They listened to the students do some reading and we even made a Humpty Dumpty from the nursery rhymes we have been reading.

On Remembrance Day, we took a virtual tour through the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. We discussed the information you would find there and its importance. For the service we completed at the school, the students worked together to create a wreath that they laid during our service. The students did a wonderful job being respectful and attentive during the service.

In art, we have been busy making collages. The students had a look at some examples, and as a group we decided on which one we would like to make. We started by making a collage to make a waterfall. They used magazines and cards to find colours to match what they would see at a waterfall. Next, students had a go at making a rainbow, where they could put whatever colours they wanted in the rainbow.

In writing we have had a go at making our own verse for the nursery rhyme 'Old McDonald went out bush'. The kids had some great ideas and did a wonderful job.
