Dear parents/carers,
We’re heading into a busy and exciting part of Term 4! Our Student Support Group (SSG) meetings will be held from 10th to 28th November (Weeks 6–8). These meetings are a great opportunity for you to meet with teachers, discuss student progress and learning goals, and plan for the upcoming transition week. We also encourage students to join in and take an active role. It is a wonderful chance for them to talk about their own goals, reflect on their progress, and share their ideas for the future.
Some of our students have also begun the eight-week I CAN Program (icannetwork.online/high-schools). The program focuses on building confidence, self-acceptance, resilience, and positive autistic identity, while supporting students to develop social and communication skills. The first sessions have gone really well, and students have enjoyed connecting with others and learning more about their personal strengths.
This term, Sexual Health Victoria has started running a series of four sessions for different student groups, exploring topics such as personal hygiene, respectful and healthy relationships, identity and feelings, decision-making, and online safety. These sessions are an important part of helping our students understand themselves and others as they enter puberty. These sessions complement our Personal and Social Capabilities curriculum, which is also being explored this term through lessons delivered by our Learning Specialist, Karla.
We currently have six students undertaking work-experience at Enable ICT recylcing. Another six students will attend later this term, and again in 2026 as we continue to provide opportunities for our young people.
A key date for the term is Year 12 Graduation, which is on Friday 5 December at the Meadows Conference and Events Centre. This is a wonderful night celebrating our seventeen Year 12 students who are graduating JSA this year. You will soon receive more information regarding this upcoming event.
A big thank you to our amazing staff, visiting presenters, and families for their continued support in helping our students learn, grow, and thrive every day.
