Celebrating a Journey of Discovery, Leadership, and Monican Legacy

From their first steps into secondary school to their final walk across the graduation stage, the Class of 2025 has journeyed through a transformative chapter at St Monica’s College, Epping. This past week, our community united to honour their achievements, reflect on their growth, and bid them a heartfelt farewell. Graduation Week unfolded with a series of vibrant and meaningful events that captured the essence of Monican life. The Year 12 Parade, a beloved College tradition, saw students arrive in imaginative and spirited costumes, blending humour, creativity, and flair. Under radiant skies, they paraded before their peers, families, and staff in a joyful display of unity and celebration. Following the Parade, students gathered for a warm and hearty breakfast, lovingly prepared by our hospitality team and Year 11 VET students. This shared meal was more than a feed, it was a symbol of community, support, collaboration, and the bonds formed over years of shared experience.

Later that same day, the Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2025 was a dignified and memorable occasion, held in the College’s Sports and Assembly Hall. It marked a significant milestone in the lives of our Year 12 students, honouring their achievements and the journey they have undertaken. Graduates were formally presented with their certificates, symbolising not only academic accomplishment but the personal growth, resilience, and character they have cultivated throughout their time at SMC. We were privileged to welcome Ms Annie Carrett, Chancellor to the Archdiocese and Chief of Staff to the Archbishop, as our keynote speaker. Ms Carrett offered a deeply thoughtful and inspiring address, drawing on the College’s 2025 theme “Moments of Discovery”, to encourage students to embrace the unknown with courage and curiosity. She spoke of discovery not as a single moment, but as a lifelong process. One that unfolds through reflection, service, and the pursuit of truth. Her message resonated with the spirit of our graduating cohort, reminding them that their time at St Monica’s College has equipped them not only with knowledge, but with the values and vision to navigate life’s complexities with integrity and hope.

The ceremony was a fitting tribute to a group of young people whose compassion, character, and commitment have left a lasting legacy.

As the academic year draws to a close, we extend our deepest appreciation to our College Captains and Vice Captains – Niko, Thomas, Seth, and Jennifer. Their leadership has been marked by integrity, enthusiasm, and a steadfast commitment to inclusion. They have served with distinction, leaving behind a legacy of student voice, unity, and Monican pride. A special acknowledgement is extended to our Year 12 Student Representative Council, whose dedication and service have enriched the life of the College throughout 2025.

Under the thoughtful and passionate leadership of Mrs Jessie Cheriyan, these students have been the voice of their peers, advocating for student wellbeing, fostering school spirit, and contributing meaningfully to College events and initiatives. From organising student-led activities to supporting community campaigns and promoting inclusion, the Senior Council has exemplified what it means to lead with purpose and compassion. Their efforts have helped shape a vibrant, respectful, and engaged school culture, leaving a mark that will inspire future Monicans for years to come.

As our Year 12 students step into the next chapter of their lives, we send them forward with our warmest wishes. Whether they pursue further study, enter the workforce, or explore new horizons, we know they carry with them the values, friendships, and experiences that will guide them well.

To the Class of 2025: Thank you for your contribution to our College community. You have left an enduring mark, and we are proud of all you have achieved. May you continue to discover, grow, and lead with the same spirit that made you Monicans.
