🌏 World Teachers’ Day – Friday 31st October 🍎

Tomorrow, Friday 31st October, we will be celebrating World Teachers’ Day (Victoria). This is a special opportunity to recognise and thank our amazing teachers for the wonderful work they do each and every day.

World Teachers’ Day is an annual event that acknowledges the dedication, professionalism, and care shown by teachers in helping every child learn, grow, and thrive. In Victoria, we celebrate it a little later than the international date to ensure it falls during the school term, giving us the chance to show our gratitude in person!

At Box Hill North Primary School, we are proud of our passionate and committed teaching team. They go above and beyond to support students academically, socially, and emotionally, creating classrooms full of curiosity, kindness, and learning.

Please join us in saying a big thank you to all our teachers for the difference they make every day! 💐

🎃 A Note About Halloween

While some families may enjoy celebrating Halloween at home, please note that we will not be celebrating Halloween at school. Friday 31st October is not a dress-up day. Our focus tomorrow will be on celebrating our wonderful teachers and recognising the important role they play in our school community.

We hope any interested children and families have a wonderful time trick-or-treating after school!

🏇 Melbourne Cup and Student-Free Days

Monday 3rd & Tuesday 4th November

A reminder that this coming Monday is a Student-Free Day while teachers focus on preparing Semester 2 Reports. With Tuesday being the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday, we wish everyone a restful and safe four-day weekend. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Wednesday, 5 November.

Enjoy the break!

🌟 Congratulations, Miss Jenkins! 🌟

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Felicity Jenkins has been named the Winner of the Outstanding Early Career Primary Teacher Award at the Victorian Education Excellence Awards!

This is an incredible recognition of Felicity’s dedication, talent, and positive impact on her students and our school community.

Congratulations, Miss Jenkins — we are so proud of you! 💐

We’re delighted to announce that in 2026 we will have one Foundation/Prep class, with Transition Sessions beginning in just a few weeks.

Felicity Jenkins will be our Prep teacher for 2026, and we can’t wait to see our new learners grow in confidence as they begin their school journey under Felicity’s care and guidance.

If you know any families yet to enrol for 2026, please encourage them to do so as soon as possible.

💐 Congratulations, Cara!

Wonderful news - Cara Jeffers (3/4 teacher) got married last weekend! We send our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for a lifetime of love and happiness.

🌿 Farewell, Sally

After 20 wonderful years as part of our Education Support team, Sally has decided to retire and spend more time travelling and with family.

While Sally has asked for minimal fuss, we can’t help but express our deep gratitude for her many contributions and care over the past two decades.

If you see Sally before she finishes up next Thursday, please take a moment to thank her and wish her well for this next exciting chapter.

🐝🐝🐝Term 4 Working Bees🐝🐝🐝

We’re excited to announce two Working Bees this term, and we’d love your help to get a few big jobs done in the school and kindergarten grounds before the end of the year!

🔹 Friday 7 November, 3:30–5:30pm

This afternoon will focus on spreading mulch around the school grounds to freshen up our gardens and play areas. Please bring wheelbarrows, shovels, and pitchforks if you have them, and a readiness to get your hands dirty! Refreshments will be provided to keep everyone fuelled and happy.

🔹 Friday 28 November, 3:30–5:30pm

Our second working bee will focus on clearing and organising storage spaces, including areas under buildings and in sheds. We’ll also be breaking down old furniture to go into a skip (or two). It’s a big task but as we all know many hands make light work!

We hope to see lots of families come along to lend a hand and enjoy the community spirit that makes these afternoons so rewarding.
