Conquers Bluewater Holes Hike!
The Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh and Outdoor Education class successfully completed their challenging overnight hike to Bluewater Holes last week, putting their teamwork, resilience, and navigation skills to the ultimate test.
The two-day expedition, held as a major component of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award and the Outdoor Education curriculum, saw students embrace the rugged beauty of the high country.
The students started their journey with full packs, ready for the 12km trek from Cooinbil Hut campground to the Bluewater Hole campsite.
The initial distance tested the students' endurance and packing skills. Teachers and students alike were impressed by the positive attitudes and constant encouragement within the group, proving that teamwork makes the load lighter!
After a solid day of walking, the class arrived at the dedicated campsite near Bluewater Hole. The evening was spent learning essential outdoor skills:
Tent Pitching: Efficiently setting up shelter before sundown.
Stove Safety: Preparing a well-deserved dinner using personal trangias or the campfire
Campcraft: Understanding minimal-impact camping principles.
A clear, cold night under the stars provided a perfect opportunity for reflection and bonding around the designated fire pit.
Despite a chilly morning, the energy was high for the second day's objective: completing the breathtaking Clarke Gorge Walking Track.
This spectacular section of the hike required careful footing as students navigated the gorge, renowned for its towering rock formations and the crystal-clear creek that flows through it. The track involved multiple river crossings, demanding focus and cooperation from the group.
The students successfully completed the gorge walk and made their way back to the extraction point, tired but immensely proud of their achievement.

Congratulations to the Year 9 students for their effort and enthusiasm.
