Year Two

The Year Two students have been inquirers in the last couple weeks of Term 4 !
Reading:
In Reading students have completed the text of 'Storm Boy' written by Colin Thiele. We explored its themes, messages. Students also revisited the key comprehension strategies that they have learnt in 2025 including; summarising, visualising, inferring. The students now are beginning practice of using a text to answer questions including right-there and inferential questions.
They will continue highlighting key words in the text to support them in finding the answer.
Writing and Inquiry:
Students have been investigating their chosen disaster as part of our final Unit of Inquiry in Year 6. They were given agency in this project, with support from their teacher and family, as the task was completed both at school and at home. Students have been developing information reports based on their selected disaster, and have been encouraged to use the internet and other reliable resources to discover how the disaster is caused, how it affects people and the environment, and how communities come together to support one another during and after it.
Students are very excited for their families to come in Week 10 to see their final presentations.
Maths:
In Maths, students have finished the Time unit, where they worked on reading quarter past and quarter to on analogue clocks. They are now revising all maths areas. Students are practising skip counting and adding two- and three-digit numbers using a range of strategies, including vertical addition and number lines. They are also working on multiplication, using arrays to solve word problems, and understanding repeated addition.
